I mean I'm on the autism spectrum (aspergers is no longer the medical or socially acceptable term). I definitely think Dexter is autistic to some degree. I think Harry also might have kinda convinced him that he NEEDED to kill in some part. If he's told hes a monster, he's going to become one.

2025-10-25 16:32:42 +0000 UTCRegarding his seeming lack of ability to sense danger and putting himself into dangerous spots - I think that Dexter believes that HE is the most dangerous thing in any situation he has found himself in thus far, therefore he isn't particularly afraid of what else may be lurking in the dark. After all, he is the monster in the dark as far as he is concerned. It also ties into your spectrum behaviour theory as some autistic individuals have less of a radar for danger - I think most commonly heard of is autistic children and accidents involving bodies of water.
