Chapter 35: The innocent witch

A slow pain that crept to the head, flaring black and white light was the least of Andrew’s worries after he started hanging out with rich scions and his new friend ‘booze.’

Andrew groaned as he rose from the bed and tossed the blanket. The naked brunette lying beside him squirmed without the blanket. She blindly waved her arms, catching the warm cloth, and covering herself with it. She rolled to his side and closed her eyes with a loose smile.

‘Who was she again?’

Andrew knocked his head a couple of times.

“Stupid, she is your lover.” A sweet voice, clearly that of a female, rang in his ears.

Andrew searched for the owner of the voice. The room had nothing extraordinary other than its giant white bed with pure white sheets. Andrew pricked his ears, wondering if some idiot shoved a device in his ears.

“I’m not in your ears, darling. I’m in your body.”

Andrew knocked his head a couple of times, but the pouty voice kept saying things. Andrew leaned on the headboard and caressed Maria’s hair in her sleep.

“Am I going nuts?”

“You mortals are more problematic than the deities living in the Beyond… and, your headache is caused by a foreign soul present in your body—me.”

Andrew blinked his eyes at the words from some epic fantasy novel being uttered in his ears. The headache he endured for over two days was caused by an extra soul in his body?

“Who the fuck are you, woman?”

“Kiddo, cursing is a bad habit. And people exalted me as the Last Witch of Time, in my world that is.”

“Talking as if you are from another world?”

“I am, actually. From the world known as the Beyond. Our world has nothing in common except humanity steering toward destruction.”

“Beyond what exactly?”

“The endless black space people to refer as ‘Void.’”

“So you’re from another universe.”

“Yup.”

Andrew rubbed his temple, feeling the headache stretching to his body.

“That’s crazy,” he muttered. “Then again, nothing new for me. My life is filled with crazies already.”

His mother, father, first ex, the redhead middle-school teacher, former crush, and now this wannabe Witch of Time—the gods kept throwing psychos in his life.

“No. I’m many things but psycho isn’t one of them.”

“Okay, Miss Witch of Time from another world. What do you want from me?”

Was he going to get Isekai’d by her? Andrew’s heart accelerated.

‘Cool down a bit. Who knows if she is a fantasy waifu created by my desires?’

“I don’t know. I think I died in my world after doing something… good? My soul somehow ended up here.”

The anticlimactic answer poured cold waters on his plans of saving the imaginary Catgirl kingdom and making a harem full of catgirls. To think someone called Witch didn’t have any plans to manipulate an innocent man like him.

‘Why is my reality so cruel?’

“I’m confused too. Why do I have to live inside a pervert of all people?”

The word ‘pervert’ stepped on Andrew’s pride. He always loathed people who brushed up his otaku habits as a sign of perversion.

He narrowed his eyes. “What kind of perverted thing did I do to you?”

“You made love to a woman who is unmarried… and held her hands.”

Andrew felt speechless at this woman’s reasoning. Her world must still hold old customs that forbid unmarried couples from performing lewd actions such as handholding and sex.

Knock. Knock.

“Master Andrew, are you awake?”

His butler arrived to wake him for school.

‘Fuck. I have to meet Ethan. What kind of trouble is he facing?'

“Oi, Maria. We’re gonna be late for school.”

The brunette clung to the blanket, refusing to budge an inch. He found it hard to believe that this lazy woman helped him at the party and pleased him in bed with unprecedented passion. As much as he appreciated her devotion, now wasn’t the time to mess around.

“I’m gonna be mad if you don’t wake up in ten.”

Maria opened her eyes with a foolish grin. “S-Sorry. I’m a bit sore...”

“You went wild last night… You want to sleep in today? I can tell some BS to the teach.”

She deserved a break after last night. They both did, but he couldn’t afford to miss another day of school.

“Oh my. You look like a responsible man for once.”

Maria acted like she didn’t hear the Witch’s voice.

“Only you can hear me.”

“I’m good,” Maria said, revealing a smile. “We should get ready.”

Andrew kissed her forehead before he walked out of the room. A man in a black butler suit handed Andrew a towel. Despite his relatively handsome face, the man’s stern manners gave him the distinct aura of a ‘professional.’ Andrew jokingly named him ‘Sebastian’ on their first meeting, which roused a chuckle from the stern man. His real name turned out to be Melvin.

“Master Andrew, Arima Akihiko called you.”

“Arima who—you mean Ethan’s stepdaddy?”

“Yes. He wanted to meet you.”

‘What does that old man want with me?’

Andrew never met Arima, but the fate he suffered a few days ago fueled hundreds of dirty rumors and scandals involving him. Andrew had mad respect for the man, for carving a road to success from poverty in half a decade. But the things he did to Mio were… unforgivable. He fell to the lowest in his eyes.

“Set a meeting tonight. I want to hear what he has to say after falling from grace.”

“Understood. Master. Your breakfast is ready..”

“Alright.”

Andrew prepared for school and had a simple breakfast with Maria.

Melvin drove the couple to school. The witch kept spouting distracting things, so Andrew pulled Maria and buried his face in her breasts.

The witch became silent.

Melvin shook his head in the driving seat.

Andrew arrived at the school and noticed Ethan and his girlfriends standing at the main door, talking to a maid.

Andrew knew the owner of the car behind the maid.

‘Miss Marienne? It should be a family matter.’

He could only sigh as Ethan and company got into the car and left.

“Why am I not allowed to meet my buddy?”

Maria patted his back to console him.
