Magus Cybernetica lore update
Added 2024-04-27 03:58:43 +0000 UTCOk, I've had some time now (just under 2 weeks) to really refine the lore. I've taken roughly 3 days off in that time.
I think it would be good to show what the setting looks like before diving into Zola's personal life, so I'm reworking the beginning of the comic to include some more establishing shots. The fractal nature of Witchport's design means that each layer should feel distinct. Witchport should still feel like a complete shithole though.
I also want to rework how I introduce Zola. Instead of starting on Winter and Zola's holiday week (that will be saved for later along with all of the work I have already completed leading up to it). I feel that the best way to introduce Zola is to introduce the idea of Layer 7's awful police force, then subvert that expectation of Zola being this evil corporate mafia member. She'll do something morally correct that goes against police code, which should position her as someone who prioritises "good" over "lawfulness" despite being a "lawful good" character (in terms of alignment). The decision will also have consequences that feed naturally into the story I want to tell.
TL;DR- I'm reworking the start, and the existing work will be moved later into the story as a flashback.
