IMPORTANT UPDATE. Mid Year Thoughts and Upcoming Changes

Howdy y'all.

It's about halfway through the year and usually around this time I go over some thoughts and see how my goals have been for the year and announce some potential changes.

First off the big thing, Comics: how've they been doing? Overall I'm a bit mixed. On one hand Dragonic Blessings has been a fun change of pace compared to my past projects and I've enjoyed the weekly continuous release with a bit lower quality. I've also normally tried to have two comic projects going at the same time whether that was Hyper Healing Weekly or Old Punishments at the moment. However, this is becoming a bit of an issue. As it stands I do not make enough from patreon to warrant working on two comics at the same time. Comics easily take the longest to make out of anything I do and frankly working on two projects is just not worth the long term effort unless I receive more pledges. I won't go back on my promise to make Old Punishments however and since it's a bit shorter and is already fully sketched I will still be working on both Dragonic Blessings and Old Punishments until it is done. After Old Punishments is done though I will not be working on a second comic until I receive more pledges.

The second thing about Comics is that I am admittedly a little tired of them, or atleast I am of serialized comics. After Old Punishments is done I want to do more one off/ one shot comics, things that I can put a little more quality into without needing to worry about them being continuous, think some of my Risk of Rain comics with the funny purple lizard. Thankfully doing that would give me the potential to either do some Cameo calls to put your guys' oc's in the comics and branch out into other characters such as Toriel or Kass. For about the last year I've focused very intensly on comics and I want to change that. I want to work longer on single pieces and increase their overall quality something I CANNOT do when having to juggle two comic projects and commissions.

The final thing about comics is that I actually do not like how new pages are tier gated and release weekly, especially when some of my comics (Dragonic Blessings specifically) are so far ahead of the Big frogs current page. My current idea is for Big Frogs ($5) to receive comic pages as they're done with the exception of the next 1-2 pages being gated for only Huge and Giant Frogs. Public pages posted would still follow a weekly schedule though and wouldn't be released as finished. However since I don't want to just take so many pages away from the Giant Frogs, you would receive a compensation in the form of returning cameo calls as mentioned above and exclusive polls. Cameo calls wouldn't also be comic specific but could potentially be weaved into illustrations as well. ALL OF THIS IS HOWEVER JUST A THOUGHT, NOTHING IS PLANNED YET AND IF ANY OF THESE CHANGES DO HAPPEN THERE WILL BE A NOTICE. That being said I would like to hear what you guys think of comic pages becoming generally less exclusive within patreon?

Now that comics are out of the way I can talk about a few other things that can be kept relatively brief.

Substar: Gonna try and use it more as I have a little more freedom on the platform. Anything that happens over here would happen over there and would effectively mirror each other.

Commissions: As it stands Commissions take up MOST of my drawing time and need to so that I can make ends meet which is why I may not be posting here as much as I have in the past.

General Life: I have also been looking for permanent fulltime work and if that does happen things would change here. As much as I like doing this it can be very very restrictive for looking for professional company work and limits my portfolio strength, not to mention I have to start paying for my own insurance within the next two years. Should I get a fulltime job things here will change.

TL;DR After Old Punishments finishes I'm only going to be working on Dragonic Blessings. Gonna do more illustrations and one off comics. Cameo Calls maybe coming back and Comic pages MIGHT be more accessible to Big Frogs (Please read the last paragraph of the Comic thoughts).
