Why do they have legs? They live under the sea. Shouldn’t they have tails? I mean what cruel god made them wear pants underwater? To hells with merfolk and sahugin. What about kuo-toa? They are literal fish-men. Why do they have legs?! And since we are on the matter why every thing needs to be a man? You have a frog, there are frog-men. You have lizard, there are lizard-men. You have a cat here are cat-men. Is there a men version of every beast? Are there pig-men for example?
Oh gods are we the pig-men? Am I a pig-man?!
