And when the time came for my final exam I was ready to fight and defeat any of my peers and even Master himself. But instead, he took me to the small pond and told me that to become a master I must cross it without touching the water.
Thousands of times tried to jump from one side to the other. But the pond was too wide. Other students were laughing at me and calling me a frog. At times I thought my Master was in on the joke and the whole exam was invented to make a fool of me. But I respected him too much to quit.
After two months I knew it was impossible to just force my way. So I sat on the bank and started meditating. Summer went by and so did Fall and Winter. In Spring mountain roses bloomed and the wind scattered its blossoms on the shimmering expanse of the pond. At that moment I knew what must be done. I stood up and ran on the water's surface touching only the petals.
Master was waiting for me on the other side.
-What you did was incredible - he said.
-Thank you, Master! Now I understand. This was the last secret technique. And it was the only way to teach me.
-I have no idea how you did it. I thought you would stop being so stubborn and find a damn boat!
