Progress Report #56: February 2023

Greetings again folks o/

Boy this month has been a hectic one- firing off posts every 3 to 4 days! Apologies for the consistent announcement pings, especially to our Discord denizens! Rest assured, once the patch is released, we'll ease back into a more dialed down routing once more. For now however, the last progress report!

So, this week we showed off another central character- a very effeminate young slime by the name of Ishan, who specializes in covert scouting missions. We had him focused for the entire week- his standing art, his CG work his sprites-, or at least that is what we believed we did. Turns out though, there is a hidden character that the artist/writer team had been keeping from us and though they did drop hints now and then about this mysterious beauty, we had no idea how far along she had been developed. Guess as they say- "the more, the merrier", and we can't wait to show off this one once fully ready. Stay tuned for that!

With the Slime story-line out of development and fully fleshed out now, the writers have turned most of their attention to the things beyond. Though, there are some fine tweaks being applied to the current patch, much of framework building has shifted to a new concept called "Arena World". "What is that?", you might wonder? Well, good question, cause even we would like to know that! But, the writers true to their style remain tight lipped about things still far into the future. All we can say is "Trust us. It's real and it's happening." :S

Finally, time for the "oh not so glamorous, but very necessary" part of the week's development- coding. VoidBound's turn based combat is something of a chessboard like system: Positioning and location matters. And yet, a lot of players felt they had trouble pin pointing the exact location of the enemy, making moves and skill predictions cumbersome. Well, feel irked, no more! Come the next release, characters on the battlefield will now cast shadows below them, marking the exact tile they are standing on, giving players an accurate info on when and where to move or cast a skill at! Furthermore as part of the combat overhaul initiative, new varied style enemies with unique skills are being developed as well to push the system further! Stay tuned as we bring more developments around this soon!

And that is our final report of the month. Hard to say how we'll open up with March, but we're sure we'll find more interesting things for you to chow down on!
