Kappa

Hello! Today's release is based on a patron request.

The kappa is a strange creature from Japanese folklore. 

According to wikipedia, it's a kami, and get mad if you don't respect them as gods... so maybe I shouldn't have called it a "strange creature"!

It is said that if the water spills from the bowl in its head, then it will turn to a statue. Other accounts stay that if the water spills, it will merely lose its magical powers. Either way-- you want to bow deeply when you meet him, and when he returns the gesture, the water will spill out, giving you a chance to escape!

This is a simple three-frame animation. Because of the whole story and folklore based around the kappa bowing, and the water in his head-bowl, I wanted to depict the head tilting as a part of the animation. So instead of a walking animation, I created the animation that you see in the preview above.

If you are interested in a full walking sprite, let me know. 

Alternatively-- I really enjoy making these kinds of one-off characters with unique idle animations (I think they are useful for creating enemy encounters or strange NPCs who don't need to walk around); so let me know if you want more like that too.

Anyways -- today Human has a doctor's appointment as a follow-up on his surgery. It's likely that I am there right now while you are reading this.

After the past few weeks of recovery, he is walking again, even though he doesn't balance very good. I worry that the stumbling will be permanent, but at the same time, I'm very happy that he is able to walk on his own at all.

We'll see what the doctor says... whatever the diagnosis, it looks like this whole ordeal is for the most part behind us now.
