New Overworld Terrain and Cliffs
Added 2022-05-10 15:31:00 +0000 UTCHello! I've got something really cool today!

I worked on these over the weekend and wanted to share them yesterday -- but the one thing that I didn't have finished in time was the water animations. I could have released the cliffs on their own, but I thought that it might make more sense to release it all as a set with the animated water edges. So thanks for waiting. I hope that you think these tiles are worth it!
I've begun a bit of a project to update and expand on the original Time Fantasy overworld set. So far, I've got these cliffs working with with the base grass. I plan to give the same treatment for the dirt, snow, and other terrains that will be used on the world map.
These cliffs are pretty complicated-- please let me know how you are using these tiles and share with me any problems you have with them, if any tiles are missing that need to be added to the set, etc. thanks :)
After this new expanded style for the cliffs and terrain, I'll look at patron requests and suggestions to fill out some new tiles for special locations on the object-layer sheets.
Also: this set has a new grass texture tile that I created for use on the overworld. The old one used the regular Time Fantasy grass, which felt strange on the world-map because it wasn't "zoomed out" to match the larger scale.
⚠️ NOTE: I plan to expand on these in a future update. The arrangement of the tiles isn't necessarily going to stay the same for a final release. Future overworld tilesets will expand on the tiles present here, so it probably won't work as a simple asset overwrite. Be aware if you're planning to rework your world map using these tiles.

This set's a little complicated because of RPGMaker's tile limitations. The animated tiles for the water require a full 16x16 tile, which isn't possible with RPGMaker's autotile system. Therefore I've exported the corner pieces to a character-set format. This way, you use the regular autotiles (make use of the SHIFT button) to place the edges of the ocean, and then you need to use events to animate the corners.
To illustrate, the example image above was created in RPGMaker. It looks like this in the editor:

Note: Add a "!" to the Charset so it aligns properly with the tiles in RPGMaker; that prefix will override the offset that's used normally for character sprites.

As I go forward and expand on this set in the next few weeks, here's my plan: I'm going to try to design this stuff so it will work nicely with the existing Time Fantasy style and world map textures and assets. For Time Fantasy users, these updated overworld tiles will be available as downloads here on patreon and not as a new asset pack.
Then, once they're all finished there, I can use them as a base for the new world map tileset that I'll include in the Elements tile pack that will eventually be available for sale (and for patrons). Particularly for some of the more complex tiles like these cliff/water edges.
In this way, it's not gonna be something to re-sell for both styles, but you can think of the patreon-exclusive Time Fantasy version as a special preview of the Elements set.
I hope that makes sense! Let me know if you like that idea.

Okay-- this was a big one.
I'll be back later in the week with something new from the request thread. See you in a few days.
Thanks!
