Patron FAQ
Added 2021-05-05 01:20:37 +0000 UTC(This post is a quick reference FAQ post that should be visible to everybody. I'm going to link to this post from the main page, so that it will be easy to access for new members, or anybody else who is interested in this information. Thanks!)
Patreon FAQ:
What's the best way to download everything?
Where can I download the patron packs?
Which released packs are available?
What are the terms of use for graphics downloaded from patreon?
What is the difference for the $15-tier?
Tier price inconsistency for patron-access on itch.io?
The character sprites look weird in RPGMaker!
----------------------------------------------------------------
What's the best way to download everything?
If you want to quickly download everything that I've released on patreon, the best way would be the yearly archive zip files. At the end of every year, I share a huge .zip that includes everything that I released throughout the year.
There have been eight yearly archive zips released so far:
Releases from the current year that haven't be archived yet can be most easily found by browsing the monthly review posts. At the end of each month, I'll summarize the month's productivity and link to each release.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Where can I download the patron packs?
New patrons will see a page that has links to all of the packs available as downloads for patrons. For reference, here's a copy of that page, with the links to all of the packs that are available to patrons:
Here's a link to the patron-exclusive "Lich Crusades" character pack:
Patrons also have access to the "Ruined Dungeons" tileset pack:
Patrons also have free access to the "Animated NPCs" pack:
And the "Farm Animals" mini-pack:
...AND the "1000+ Fantasy Icons" pack:
...AND the "Mecha War" sprite pack:
And for the "Quirky NPC Sprites" pack:
And the "Final Tower" tileset pack:
...and as of summer 2024, the Lo-Bit RPG Pixel Asset Pack:
The addition for summer 2025: Beast Tribes 2:
And the Omega Modern expansion, Alien Planets:
If you're a supporter at the $10+ tier, you can download the "Mythical Monsters" pack:
$10+ tier patrons also have access to download the "Beast Tribes" character pack:
And also the Giant Tree tileset pack:
...and now the Faces expansion too!
Fairy Forest tileset expansion:
And also...

----------------------------------------------------------------
Which released packs are available?
Some assets have special downloads and will always be available for patrons. These would be packs like Lich Crusades, Mythical Bosses, Ruined Dungeons, or any others as listed on the main page (download links above).
Every regular pack gets a patron download when they are first released. Patrons at that time can then download them for free. This rewards those who are already patrons before new packs are released. As long as you are a patron -- you'll get access to the download key for any packs as they are released during that time.
These release keys are revoked after 2-3 months. That way, latecomers can still have access to the downloads, but they won't be up forever. New patrons are welcome to download these packs if the link is still available in the archive, but it isn't guaranteed to always be available.
( Note: As of the release of my game Jubilee, this policy goes for any paid game releases too. Patrons at the time of release get download access, and it's removed after a few months. I know that you're here for assets not games, but I've promised to release everything for high-tier patrons. Consider it a bonus! 😘 )
The oldest packs-- the base tileset and character packs, for example, do not have a special patron download, since they were created before I started on patreon. They'd need to be bought the regular way (they go on sale often and are frequently featured in bundles)
On top of that, there are the regular twice-a-week releases on patreon, and new patrons get instant access to the constantly-growing archive of these releases.
----------------------------------------------------------------
What are the terms of use for graphics downloaded from patreon?
Here are the important points regarding terms of use for the assets I release here:
Can I use these graphics in commercial projects?
Yes, royalty-free.
Can I edit these graphics?
Yes, for use in your own projects.
Can I share or redistribute these graphics?
No.
Are there any limitations or restrictions on what engine I can use?
No restrictions.*
*There are no engine restrictions on anything that I release here on patreon, or on anything that I sell directly on my itch.io page or most other marketplaces. The only exception is assets sold as RPG Maker DLC, via Steam or the RPG Maker web store. You'll notice that the packs sold via those stores are at a discounted price compared to my itch.io store-- that's because they have a special license that limits their use to RPG Maker.
Do I need to credit you in my game?
No. You don't need to credit me, but please don't attribute my art to someone else.
I'm working on a team project...
Only one person on the team needs to have bought the assets legitimately (via patreon, asset packs, etc). Other members on the team can use them freely on the buyer's license-- but only within the scope of a project that the original buyer is actively working on.
I'm making an NFT game...
You can use my assets in an NFT game. You cannot use my assets as the NFTs within that game. You cannot redistribute my assets as NFTs.
For a further explanation on this, GameDevMarket has the right idea. Check out their blog post here.
----------------------------------------------------------------
What is the difference for the $15-tier?
There's no difference between the $10 tier and the $15 tier in terms of content. Both highest tiers have access to everything.
The reason for the $15-tier is for members who want to provide additional support, and/or think that the regular weekly content is worth that price. If you can't afford it (or don't want to)-- that's fine. No pressure. The $10 tier will give you access to everything.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Tier price inconsistency for patron-access on itch.io?
Downloads at the $5-tier might be a problem for patrons using foreign currencies, because of the exchange rates. In order to gain access to the downloads, itch.io looks at the price amount that a patron is signed up for, not the tier. So, generally the pricing is close, but someone paying in British pounds would be seen by itch.io as a $4.50-patron instead of the actual $5-tier.
As an easy solution, I've changed the limit on the itch.io side of things, so that all of these $5 packs (Monsters, Beast Tribes, Giant Tree, etc) can now be downloaded by any patron at $4 and above. This should solve any problems with foreign currency conversions.
Really this shouldn't change anything or have any noticeable effect at all-- other than making things a little bit easier for new patrons using foreign currencies.

The character sprites look weird in RPG Maker!
For some character sprites, you might need to rename the file so it works properly in RPG Maker.
If there is a single character on a sheet, add a "$" to the beginning of the file's name. By default, RPG Maker assumes that a sheet has eight characters on it, and a "$" will tell the program that the image only includes one character.
ex. "$demonlord.png"
If the sheet is an item or tile (like a door or signpost), then you might want to add a "!" to the beginning of the file's name. By default, RPG Maker will display a sprite with an offset of a few pixels (presumably so character's feet look more natural on the ground). A "!" will tell the program to ignore the offset and align that image perfectly with the tile-grid. Important for non-character sprites.
ex. "!treasurechests.png"
You can use both prefixes together for both effects.
ex. "!$singleobject.png"

If you're not working with RPG Maker, you'll generally want to stick to the 100% size which is the 16x16 tile-base. all of my styles* use the 16x16 tile-base for the main resolution. The 32x32 and 48x48 (200% and 300%) scaled are upscaled formats because of RPGMaker's different versions have different asset requirements. Thanks! *(the lo-bit stuff might be an exception because it can do some weird stuff with 8x8 tiles)

2025-11-04 23:14:24 +0000 UTCWhat are the different image sizes? 16x16, 32x32, and 64x64? I don't use RPG Maker so the references are lost on me. Also, what are the different target palettes for each type e.g., Time Fantasy, Time Elements, and Omega Modern? Thanks.
Nathaniel
2025-11-03 21:49:23 +0000 UTCI'd love to see Lovecraft and Cthulhu one day. 2D RPG characters seen from above. I'm starting a 2D RPG game based on Cthulhu.

2025-08-16 15:52:07 +0000 UTCI want to know how to convert elements into fantasy. Where can I obtain the color palette for fantasy?

2025-08-11 13:14:50 +0000 UTCActually now it you can easily recolour quite a lot of them yourself: https://itch.io/post/13310178

2025-07-16 18:12:16 +0000 UTC1. For your games, preferably you are able to encrypt the image files so you aren't sharing them directly. But if you can't encrypt the assets, from engine restrictions or for dev purposes, include a readme or something to make it clear that they're not to be downloaded and used for other projects and links back to me so they can get them properly. 2. For an open-source game engine, please do not include my assets in the finished project except for the very minimum to function as an example. (for example, 1 piece of each type in a character generator) Thanks!

2025-07-15 16:44:23 +0000 UTCI would like to understand a bit better "Can I share or redistribute these graphics? - No". While it is clear, that these should not be redistributed as a standalone assets, however in case of using them in browser and/or open-source games will make them kind of available. So, I have the following questions: - is it okay to make a browser game, if I repack tilesets, like for example here? https://pf2erpg.pages.dev/assets/intro.png - is it okay to make a browser game, if I create PCs/NPCs using elements character generator, and supply resulting sprite sheets, for example like here? https://pf2erpg.pages.dev/assets/hero.png - is it okay to make a browser game, if I implement paper doll character generation in code, which will basically require supplying in one or another form original parts sprite sheets? - is it okay to make an open-source paperdoll character plugin for phaser.io, and put inside public GitHub repository very limited set of original elements character parts sprite sheets (like 2 heads, 2 top, 2 bottom, etc) as an example to play with? (and of course with links to your itch.io profile to get the rest of the stuff) - is it okay to make an open-source game engine (on top of phaser.io, but with gameplay system implemented) and put limited amount of character parts sprite sheets (like in previous question) and some repacked tilesets (like in first question) inside public GitHub repository to provide some example areas to play with?

2025-05-03 10:04:49 +0000 UTCWe did update the generator to support mac OS, but it doesn't on every machine. From what I understand, it's possible that it has to do with some hardware compatibility layer, but we'd need more information. Please email or dm me with the details about your specific problem and it could be helpful. Hopefully we can solve it, and when we do I'll edit this post. EDIT: Here's a solution from another patron. Hopefully this solves the problem for most mac users: "I've been able to use the character generator on an Apple Silicon with Rosetta - you just have to specify x86_64 with the arch command and then it'll open nicely. Hope that helps!" Beyond that, generally we might have to say that the primary platform is windows and not all macs are guaranteed to be supported. Thanks

2025-01-29 06:12:21 +0000 UTCHas there been a fix for the character generator on Mac? I just purchased the bundle but can't get the generator to work. I know others have had the same issue and wanted to know if the programer had fixed the issue yet?

2025-01-21 12:22:21 +0000 UTCSounds like you missed out on the release windows for older packs-- Hopefully you're here for the next one, thanks!

2024-09-30 02:20:46 +0000 UTCIs the character sprite sheet only available for purchase? I thought it was included with the patreon a little sad about that but loving everything else

2024-09-24 03:28:10 +0000 UTCGood Afternoon, it took me about 2 hours to catch up on your FAQ posts links, monthly links, yearly links and this month posts. whew! I am hoping you could tell me, are there any packs for sale on itch or other sources that are not listed in Patreon? I am looking to purchase... :)

2024-09-23 23:22:11 +0000 UTCThe base tileset and character packs refer to the original Time Fantasy sets, but generally anything that isn't listed here with a download link will need to be purchased from the store if you have missed the release window. Thanks!

2024-06-21 03:16:22 +0000 UTCregarding the packs that are not downloadable through patreon, its specified base tileset and character packs need to be bought regular way. can someone confirm which packs those are (specific the character packs iam confused about) thanks

2024-05-08 21:50:12 +0000 UTCUse a program to select only the pink or use a paint bucket tool to remove it in a program. If you need assistance please feel free to let me or others know as well.

2024-02-02 01:14:40 +0000 UTCIt looks like they aren't downloading correctly from the browser, but I got it working by copying and pasting the URL directly. Hopefully that works for you. Thanks!

2022-06-06 18:56:17 +0000 UTCFYI the bundles pre-2021 are no longer functioning as links.

2022-06-06 18:43:21 +0000 UTCThe OpenRPG sets have that because of the way older RPGMakers work. It's a consistent single color so it should be easy to delete or convert to transparency in most modern art software. I might be able to update the pack to include it as an actual transparent color, thanks for the idea.
finalbossblues
2022-05-30 02:40:29 +0000 UTCHey, I was wondering for some of your tile sets, there seems to be a pink background on the assets, and I was wondering how I should get rid of that?

2022-05-30 00:34:51 +0000 UTCAll of the packs that aren't listed as patreon downloads can be found on my itch.io page here: https://finalbossblues.itch.io/

Chris Brown
2022-03-12 09:37:46 +0000 UTCI haven't put together a single sheet that includes all of the add-ons that I've released (because they wouldn't fit together on a single rpgmaker-formatted sheet)-- so you can put one together that uses whichever sheets you need. You should be able to find everything by searching for 'world'.
