I always wondered why, during the gold rush, prospectors would pay in straight gold for stuff that seemed way overpriced stuff. That's just the local things that a blacksmith or local moonshine. I know those camps were full of Carpetbagger's but, I would of thought the second you arrived you would of realized how bad the exchange rate was... Unless his bag was full of silver coins humm.
