I am from Ontario and loved how you managed to incorporate little bits of Canadian kitsch.. Having one of the girls holding a "Tim Hortons" coffee cup.. That was brilliant! and I am also glad to see that we as a country and its parts also did not need a secondary "grading" system for the "failed" flags from FS - FF...

Worse, the province closest to my heart got B/C on hers even though she followed the assignment. Still, I love a good vexililogical discussion so I was happy to see the video overall. More flag grading vids please!

Don't like the wavy sun rays, and the line separating the Union Jack from the lower portion stands out far too much. Looks like two flags stacked on top of each other.

2023-09-14 18:37:06 +0000 UTCI used to really like our flag here in BC. It stood out, unique from the other provincial flags in our country (hard stare at Ontario and Manitoba). The colours and shapes really embodies what I loved about where I loved: bright, vibrant, active, and energetic; a land and people living with nature. The older I got and the more I learned of our colonial history and present (along with art and design and vexillology) I started to find the flaws and even disliked aspects of it. The sun on the water lines seems strange, that ridiculous thin blue line that splits the horizontal, and worst of all is the symbolic reinforcement of the Crown and Union Jack above everything. Big fan of redesigning the flag as well as renaming this province, as much as I still kinda like the current flag :)

2023-09-13 19:25:58 +0000 UTCagreed that Nunavut is S-Tier. I'm actually very fond of Newfoundland's, though Grey's suggestion isn't wrong. The unofficial Labrador flag is pretty good, too. Also, Grey, if you every do a selection of city flags, please consider doing some Canadian ones. I say this as a Torontonian who HATES our city flag (but our prior Metro Toronto flag was pretty bomb!)

2023-09-08 05:27:32 +0000 UTCAs a BC resident: no. BC has a uniquely awful flag, occupying the bottom tier alone. It’s not “so-bad-it’s-good.” At least Maryland has neat designs. BC has a badly stretched union flag with a clip-art crown slapped on top with a goofy sun and waves below. Why is the sun below the union flag? Because “the sun never sets on the British Empire”… The flag was adopted in 1960, well after the empire, and we knew better than to perpetuate colonial romanticism. BC, more than any other Canadian flag, is in desperate need of replacement. Also, Nunavut is S-tier.

A 1:2 vertical bicolour of green and white; charged with a white fleur-de-lys centred on the green portion and a trillium centred on the white portion. The trillium is the same stylized trillium that appeared for decades as the Government of Ontario's official symbol.

In addition to Narwhals, I feel like the fact it’s the only province/territory to include one if the poles (North Geomagnetic) could have been used to spectacular effect.

If you're driving around anywhere in Newfoundland, you'll see that flag displayed everywhere. Even for those islanders who have migrated across Canada have at least one Newfie flag somewhere. Heck a lot of fish and chip places in Ontario have the flag.

It stinks, and before today I couldn’t articulate it beyond just saying it’s ugly and boring. Thank you Grey!
