The Deal is Changing
Added 2017-12-09 03:36:05 +0000 UTCPatreon is changing how pledges are going to be processed for patrons and creators. An official email by Patreon was sent out on 12/7/2017 detailing the intended updates. While we can not give hard numbers on the changes until they go into effect, we can estimate that the changes Patreon is making will cost our $5 patrons approx 10% more based on the numbers below.
$5 pledge * 2.9% service fee + $0.35 flat transaction fee= $5.50
Due to these changes, we as creators want to re-examine the deal we have directly with you, our patrons.
Fiona and I are now working on ways to make 10% more and 10% better quality Patreon content.
Fiona and myself are very appreciative of what Patreon has allowed us to do over the past few years. No other website could help us achieve what we have with Patreon and we hope that these changes will not have a detrimental effect on the site in the long run.
Since we can not control what Patreon does, Fiona and I are focusing on what we can control: the content we produce.
In the coming days we are going to find ways to increase the value of our work to accommodate the fee increases. We take your pledges and your support very seriously.
