Adapted largely from The Invisible Hook.  It's great, go read it: https://amzn.to/36PLKSE

Thank you, my Patrons, for making this video possible.

Special thanks to Peter T. Leeson for reviewing a draft of the script.  Check out his newest book, "WTF?!: An Economic Tour of the Weird": https://amzn.to/3eEMm09

How to be a Pirate: Captain Edition

The offended captain saying “yar, it need only look good from afar” is probably one of my favourite CGPgrey lines

Holly Smith

Same tho.

Daniel McIntyre

The BOOP and “fake guns don’t shoot, do they? *slaps hard on back*” “😠” made me die. With laughter.

Sahar Emadi

egg on your face :P

"Director's commentary will come out with Part 2." I'll clear my afternoon for July 7th, 2028.

About Dufresne's ending though .....

Matthew DeVries

My theory is Grey just binged Black Sails (amazing show), and dude in glasses with beanie is the Walrus' accountant, then quartermaster Mr. Dufresne. Easily the character Grey would latch onto.

Matthew DeVries

Great video! I really hope we get the decision tree as a wallpaper option

Blair MacKenzie

I love the lyrical lines, lovingly laced with little tidbits of tidy rhymes; abounding with alliteration and assonance.

Myrddin Emrys

Yet again, a video whose topic I never would have predicted yet somehow falls perfectly into the nebulous, undefined category of "definitely a Grey topic."

Somebody doesn't like reading much

Favorite line in the whole video: "bootie be 'licious" :-D

The sudden change from pirate talk to normal talk hurt me

Wilhelm Screamer

I also recommend the chapter on pirate law in David Friedman's book "Legal Systems very Different From Ours" (quick look at the drafts here: http://www.daviddfriedman.com/Legal%20Systems/LegalSystemsContents.htm ) It describes how loot is shared and when and when not pirate captains can make decisions.

Lars Huluk

"Sullying Pantaloons", classic

robert laporte

Jolly good video Grey.

The great triumvirate of evil - murder, torture and marketing

Sorcerer's Apprentice

Branding, like Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride. :D

Maarten Daalder

Lol the pirate captain looks so happy through all the death and torture

_nubmark

Fantastic writing!

Richard DiDonato

Booty for all!

Mr.Tarzan

Should we be expecting a pirate-themed collection of wallpapers?

I think it's time we blow this scene, get everybody and their stuff together. Okay, 3, 2, 1, let's jam!

this video is poetry
