This last week I spent far too much time looking at train stations, and today you're going to get a bit of a different assessment of the state of passenger rail in North America than I've done before, including some global examples. Anyone know the station pictured above?
Quick note on last week's Project 2025 video. I had extraordinarily low expectations for viewership on that one because the subject and format were well out of the norm for what I typically do, and I always assume people are burnt out on hearing about political stuff. Turned out it was the exact opposite — I believe that video got more views in its first week than anything I've ever done. Still trying to process what that means.
One more note, and a question! Several weeks ago I asked about cities you'd be interested in having me travel to, explore, and make content on, and the one I heard most frequently was Detroit. So I'm going to Detroit! In early September. It actually ends up not being that inexpensive a trip for some reason (compared to, say, Phoenix or Houston), so this one is very much patron-funded. I will be looking to do an in-person event there, so stay tuned if that's something you're interested in.
So, on the subject of Detroit: (1) If you know the city, live there, or have been recently, what do you recommend I see/do/eat/etc.? (2) What do you wonder about? What would you like to see in a video? I have my own ideas, of course, but I always have blind spots.
Happy Wednesday!
