POP SONG REVIEW: "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen

Welp.

Anyway, please vote in the Song vs. Song poll, we're doing "It's Tricky" by Run-DMC vs. "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn" by the Beastie Boys. https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-poll-its-vs-79799829

And as always, if you see any errors, you know what to do

POP SONG REVIEW: "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen

Playing pub trivia recently, there was a question about "which artist has DJ Khaled not collaborated with?" The answer was Morgan Wallen and now I'm wondering how that's possible. Seems like the obvious next stop in the "I don't hate Black people, pinky promise" redemption arc.

This song sounds like mid 00's to me... remember 'Over & Over Again', 50 Cent with some country dude? Very much in that vein of monotony. And the reason its 36 tracks is a power trip, and because when you have die-hard fans they'll listen to anything you put out. Its capitalism baby - quantity over quality - most big artists have bigger albums now so there's more chances of ppl hearing at least 30 seconds of it and them getting paid, to the detriment of the actual album. Songs get shorter and lazier and you get more of them. It also helps compensate in the short term for how horrifically streaming pays artists & their songwriters, while making the labels even fatter. Its not uncommon for an artist to maybe take a stab at 30 songs when whittling down to one great album, but there's little incentive for the big stars to whittle.
