Thought I guess this inversely explains why I liked Shake It Off. I don't dislike "Hey Mickie". There are moments, yes, but as a whole? Nah. Still doesn't explain why Shake It Off is at its level for me that it is.

Loved this episode. I remember my first encounter with this song was Weird Al and Lucy. I learned later how much the original band hated this cover. Apparently they thought it was too racy to be sung by a woman or something.

My first thought on that Shopping From A to Z song was that the intro gave me super strong Devo vibes, so when you said that they actually wrote some of the songs on the album, it all suddenly made sense. She is a super good dancer though, god damn.

Todd, you should do compilation videos of the OHWs that couldn't merit a full retrospective. Just like a minute or two for each song. It'd be pretty cool!

When you take away the nostalgia, there's not a lot to Mickey, to be sure. Still, it makes more sense as a hit to me than Bette Davis Eyes. I genuinely don't know how Kim Carnes got to be one of the most successful OHW's in history... with THAT song, of all songs.

I knew nothing of Toni Basil except for this song until I read David Byrne's book a couple months ago where he mentioned her as an important choreographer. But I didn't realize the extent of her career. Great episode!
