Progress Report #9

Hey hey! Time for a new Progress Report!

The development of v0.05 is finally reaching it's end!

All the systems, maps and events are already added and tested in-game, and now finishing the art is the final stage!

More info about it near the end of the report!

Following the previous Progress Report, I will be showing more about the new shops.

Previously, I've shown the "Buy" option of Vaulty's store, now I will be presenting the "Sell" option.

As I've mentioned before, one of my main objectives with it was to keep the buying/selling system similar to what it was before, but also making it look better and be more user-friendly.

Now it will also be always compatible with saves from any version, regardless if new items or features are added to them in the future.

The entire system was made by me (the same way the Phone Menu and Bat Selector was made), and it's able to calculate any amount of items the player wants to sell, up to 999.

It's also able to detect the player's story progression, so items will be shown/hidden accordingly. (Their silhouette will remain there, as an indication that there's more things to be unlocked.)

And here's an explanation of how it will work:

Let's pick the Slime-girl Goo as an example:

When choosing to sell it, a dialogue box will pop up, with Vaulty confirming she will pay $50 for each slime goo, and will ask the player how many they want to sell.

An input box will then appear, allowing the player to add the amount that they want to sell, there will be buttons on the screen to increase/decrease the amount, but keyboard inputs will also be accepted.

For convenience, the current amount of the item that the player possess will also be mentioned in the same dialogue box.

The only problem is that this shop (and the new Gallery) will only be usable with the mouse click.

(Same limitations that also affected the Phone Menu and Bat Selector previously)

This is something that will be solved in Unity's version, but for now, I apologize for all the keyboard-only players.

All the shops (Takemi's, Summerween's, Bat crafting...) received the same treatment, even if their items don't really have any use as of now, such as the Summerween's shop.

But, they will be receiving their related events soon enough, and having their proper designs added to the game should also incentivize more players to collect them.

Since these items are an exclusive one-time purchase thing, the shop will also detect whenever the player buys each one, and will update their signs with a "SOLD OUT" sign instead.

I'm still doing some work to these drawings (expressions and some final touches), but I believe they are good enough to have a little peek.

Here's a peek of Takemi's improvements:

And also a peek of 3 of the 4 new characters, the first being an Ancient One's request:

They will all be featured in Spoiler Diary posts coming soon.

NEW CONTENT:

4 new characters (2 from Ancient One patrons)

Rework/Improvements to Cammy, Takemi and Bella character busts

New Lusty events for Cammy and two other characters (7000+ words)

  • 6 new static scenes;

    • 1 new recurring scene with multiple variations according to its progression (expressions, gestures, objects)

  • Takemi's Examination scene improvements

  • New alternative ending for Mabel's Bath scene

  • 90+ images in total - (Animation frames, scene endings, static/variations scenes)

New location related to a new character (Ancient One's character)

New location related to the part-time job system and the new characters (Bar)

New Gallery and Shops system

ADDITIONAL

Rework to Takemi's consumables

Updated icons (monster drops, consumables)

Increased the resolution of the game from 1152x864 to 1366x864

Increased the game's cache size to try to mitigate crashes

Thanks for reading, this will be the last progress report related to v0.05, but this time I will not be promising a release date.

Although the new content is already added/tested and no problems were found so far, I rather avoid repeating the same mistake from v0.04 (you can read more about it here).

As I said in the beginning, finishing the drawings is the last stage of v0.05's development, if no problems are found after that, it's good to go.

When I'm sure the update is ready, I will be making a new post to announce its early access. (It should be released on the same day or one day after the post)

Thanks for the support, see you all again soon!
