NEW VIDEO: Buffy's 'Worst' Episode Is The Government's Fault
Added 2022-10-21 16:20:00 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Hope folks are doing well! Here's the link to the new video, up a little early this month (it'll be out publicly shortly). In this one, we're talking about Beer Bad, the (debatably) worst episode of Buffy, and why it even exists in the first place (spoiler: it's because of government propaganda). This one was a fun one to do- to be honest, I'm considering maybe doing a full deep dive into Buffy one of these days? I don't entirely know what form it would take yet, but I really enjoy Buffy and talking about Buffy and so it's most definitely on the list! I hope y'all enjoy this one!

I don't think that's quite what happened, although I could be misremembering as well! IIRC the men in her village had magically imbued her with some kind of demon energy, which would have been a violation of her bodily autonomy but not sexual assault. Honestly my biggest problem with the First Slayer stuff is how....... racist the whole thing felt

2022-10-21 23:01:19 +0000 UTCIf you do get into Buffy, I hope you mention that the whole show was about a line of women who can stop evil, and then in one of the last episodes of one of the last season, Whedon decided to reveal that the only reason they had power was because the original slayer was chained up and raped by a demon lol. I know people talk about GoT's last season retroactively ruining the whole series, but man. That episode felt like a huge 'fuck you' to the entire female audience. Also it has been nearly a decade since I watched the series, so if I'm misremembering that... um... good.
