Just more violence, physical and psychological, against minorities and oppressed groups. The intensity and complicity with which an influential conservative pundit and a fucking billionaire form this brotherhood of hatred is disgusting. It's a peephole in the "room where it happens", where the decisions that destroy progress in favor of pure personal gain are made. I'm deeply distraught.

I always thought of Peterson as a Traditionalist in the Steve Bannon mould - interested in religion only because he admires its hierarchal structures, as well as the the fact that it provides an alternative to secular liberalism. I never imaged he had any actual religious faith, and he has never professed faith in any straightforward way. He believes in God about as much as Trump does.

When he says "no kidding, I wish that was funny" he means "I know you're making a joke, but if you think about it, it's actually true." What I think he is getting at is that Egypt is a Muslim country and Islam is in danger of taking over the West (in his mind) so therefore we will have a new god from Egypt. Or something equally stupid.

But Peterson stops short and just says "in conclusion, women are not people unless baby, and men are already people so we're fine"

They truly believe women are vessels, without agency, purpose, or value detached from child rearing and male authority. It's almost worse than people who are genuinely devoutly religious while espousing bigotry, because at least they can fall back on having faith in a God who they believe commands it. Musk and Peterson are just admitting to basing their misogyny on nothing but self-interest and immaturity rather than an actual belief system. Musk is obviously an overprivileged grifter, but I believe Peterson has genuinely diefied his own delusion and mental unrest and sees his ruminations as divine communication rather than cause for therapy

Peterson keeps trying to tie the discussion back to previous points and give his own anedotes and Musk just steamrolls him. Very funny to watch.

You have Peterson as a half-assed intellectual trying to ape personability vs. Musk as a half-assed man of the people trying to ape intelligence, and they rightly form a sum just shy of their parts: Musk makes a bad joke, Peterson misses a beat but stiffly acknowledges it as a bad joke (which tbh is humor I can appreciate) and then Musk is a couple more beats behind and tries too hard to laugh at it off.
