along with the fact they both used their most powerful attacks and luffy still got up proving himself the winner similar to franky and pink, the 2nd most terrifying and awesome ability luffy has is always getting back up no matter what, other than the what mihawk perceived his charisma to bring any1 with the slightest amount of honor, respect and/or nobility in them to his side and usually even become friends, rivals or at least allies. :)

yup no doubt, btw for the moment b4 the double conquers haki, u could say katakuri suspected and hoped luffy had conquers haki but when luffy said "they cant even stay on their feet" that confirmed it since next moment they were all out cold :) especially flampe, thatll give her 1 serious migraine when she wakes up, since thats what fake luffy said after luffy used it on him, probably the bigger the difference between the victim and CH user and the more power put into it along with it being double from 2 equal high lvl CH users XD lol

Allona Katakuri has Advanced Observation Haki. This shows that there are Advanced levels for Haki. Katakuri trained his Observation Haki so much and now he can see the future, who knows maybe there is a level beyond that. I think there is more to Haki than what meets the eye, for example Luffy’s red hawk is fire but Luffy can’t create fire just like how Katakuri’s burning Mochi attack is fire but Katakuri shouldn’t be able to make fire so it could be that their fire comes from their Haki. This could be the case for Sanji’s Diable Jambe (devil leg) as well.

I am from the time when Naruto fillers before Shippuden arrived got bad bad. I guess that has created an aversion to fillers and slow pacing. The only good filler I know is the one about Condoriano.

I am one of those who started reading the manga when the filler became too much (I think it was in Dresrossa) and I think you have given Allona the experience that we all would have liked to have when seeing this fight for the first time. id prefer openings, endings, repeat flashbacks and stuff left out, everything else left in, yes it doesnt ruin it but it is still a let a down here and there especially depending on the arcs and which episodes. i loved ur collaboration together but honestly another reason i watch allonas reactions is to remember what i have forgotten of episodes since i dont remember every scene or detail clearly, so would prefer just the rly pointless and repetitive stuff edited out of reverie type arcs, other than that plz keep orignals, also bcuz i havent seen past reverie and after that ill b a 1st time watcher and will b worried about whats been edited if anymore is done which just that feeling alone will diminish the experience. thank you very much for ur hard work and this masterpiece. dont worry bout how did this time, whats done is done and what was done was amazing think of nothing else cuz its the past focus on the present and the future not the past, uve learned from the past so no more need for dwelling or a million more apologies. just need a poll for what episodes to edit, preferably nothing after reverie since i hear there will b the least filler and repetitiveness of the whole series ^^ <3

i thought i remembered a flashback of him trying to hit rayleigh with boundo-man and mayb about to try or trying with snake-man, like showing he trained G4 with rayleigh and also it still was not enough against rayleigh even with G4 showing how great rayleigh is and that rayleigh did get to see his progress that far. idk w/e, mayb if there is that flashback she could react to it next or it didnt happen yet, whats done is done. i also dont like brulee being edited out. probably what im most disappointed by is the exclusion of the rest of pudding and sanji. Yeah I think it might be that a good amount are anime onlys so to them it feels like you skipped scenes and ruined it, but if you read the manga you would know even if he took out those anime only scenes it still flows really well since it is the way Oda wrote it. No hate to anime onlys of course just putting my two cents in.

I just want to put in my own to cents: I absolutely loved these edits! For context's sake, though: I am a long-time manga reader and only saw these episodes once before when they came out on a weekly basis. I do not know what was cut out or how things were shuffeled around. I did notice a lot of the fight scenes were longer, and I personally prefer it because it feels more smooth that way. I also really liked a lot of the transitions, but to each their own I suppose. This will be really useful during the upcoming arc though, so this definitely bears repeating then.

Don't feel bad man. I'm sure it took you a lot of time to put this all together. Even if it's perfect in your eyes or other's eyes, doing stuff like this well never please everyone. That's something you'll have to accept. That's even more so the case when people have seen this before, they're expecting something (although imperfect) and they get a different product. That product (your edit) may objectively be better, but the fact that it's different is something that alone can rub people the wrong way. People don't like change.

Thanks for your work Ssef I get what you're saying with the feedback since some things that were cut were in an action oriented arc. But reverie being an arc of pure dialogue needs this treatment the most. That or she just watches the One Pace versions, either way I think reverie needs the edits the most because the anime staff destroyed that arc. After all this feedback I don't know which filler scene should be out and which one not anymore. like I said before, I would prefer to step back to not make anybody frustrared or anxious again to be honest. Something that I'm 100% sure is that I took the effort of going panel by panel of the manga chapters carefully, making sure that everything that I structured and transitioned was in the right place making it more faithful to the manga, but still I tried to keep some filler scenes, is not like I eliminated every filler, only the ones that I felt like they were unnecessary, but It is what It is. I tried to make the fight more dynamic and continuous to keep the tension in there. I failed on that It looks like... So yeah, All the canon stuff is in the edits, I would never take out what oda wrote and draw in the manga.

I think it's a good idea in theory, but it's not like the anime is not supervised by oda. The manga artist often draws the manga in such a way so the anime can add that to it later, what he had no time to draw on his own. I honestly loved the edits you did. It was a breath of fresh air to me, someone who has seen these episodes more than once. But I can understand why people are against it. Like one person had already said, she isn't experiencing the original work that we experienced. And there's also the feeling in the back of your head that the person editing might leave something important out. All of that takes into account. With all that being said, I really loved this reaction. I thoroughly enjoyed both the reaction and the editing!

So I did end up checking your edits out, to me the edits looked great, but I can see why for anime only watchers that the original version might be better, at least for WCI only, I don't prefer One Pace due to them skipping some great anime only scenes as they are expanded on more compared to the manga and I didn't realize you took out the Rayleigh flashback which I think would have been better to keep in. I don't know if you took out anime only scenes on ep 872-877 either as I skimmed, but I overall enjoyed it! Sorry for the backlash you are getting about it, but I do feel like 878-889 is def an edit I am sure all of us would want her to watch since those episodes were just horrendous and not watchable without being irritated anime wise. Of course that is up to her, but that experience would be way better with your edit rather than the original episodes and I am sure everyone would agree as a lot of people are telling SMF to watch the One Pace version as well. The WCI episodes on the other hand are actually really great just by themselves without any edits, but to me you did an amazing job with them and you tried giving Allona the best possible way of watching it. Okay So after reading the comments this makes A lot of sense as to why there were missing scenes and I can understand the frustrations, Because I watch both Super mecha Frieza and Allona religiously LOL (no lifer) I saw the difference and was like wait she missed this part and this part. Yes the manga and the anime are different, I don’t blame the editor I understand you’re trying to get it like the manga. For this arc in particular though i wouldn’t have minded watching those filler scenes it brought the outcome of the fight much more exhilaration. I respect the attempt, but what I don't get is why you decided to try this new method during the most hype episodes of the entire arc. Typically when you experiment with something new it'd be logical to give them a go during slower episodes and get some feedback to see if it's worth keeping up the method when it really matters.

I watched both allona and smf reactions on this set of episodes and the experience was way better in the complete episodes for a first watcher, in this case smf video. This idea is super cool for the upcoming arc, but I believe that it killed a little the mood in this episodes. Still great reaction!

i think the the backlash are from the anime only watchers. they had particular scenes in mind that they wanted to see and were disappointed. and It's not your fault. they should have asked for normal episodes in the last set.. i dont see any backlash there in the comment. i haven't watched this set yet however I loved your editing on the last set. now for the reverie part i don;t think anyone will have any problem..since both anime watchers and manga reader were frustrated.. and i think the original episodes will ruin allona's experience too.. they did a poor job on certain reveals too! if you're still conflicted we can ask Allona to do a poll for reverie arc whether should she watch it with flashbacks or with your version. I have all of those episodes edited already, which it took a whole week for me, but to be honest, at this point I don't even know If putting out some filler is the right thing anymore after this, LOL. Maybe the best decision is to keep all the filler in. Mr.Ssef, I do appreciate the effort and you really don't have to keep apologizing. Just thought I'd point out why it didn't work as well for some people as you'd hoped...from my perspective. One thing to note regarding the scene in the manga is that there is a panel with sound effects in the manga after Pudding takes the cigarette. The anime didn't do that and replaced it with a different scene to have the same effect in a different medium. You are supposed to believe something specific happened at this point in both the manga and anime...and it wasn't that Pudding wanted Sanji to stop smoking.

it depends how you take this fight, if we go by pure fighting strength of-curse Katakuri wins and he gave away the W. however this fight was not about who is superior in power.. it was a battle of Will. katakuri fought so luffy wouldn't make a greater threat to his captin later down the line. Luffy's will was greater than that. in fight we see katakuri questioning his will and ask " will you come back " The final blow wasn't King cobra that gave luffy the win but the declaration that He will become the pirate King. and that moment was the final attack and showed katakuri that his will is greater than his. hence luffy taking the Win. In one piece will is power whoever's will is greater will be the victor.

Mr.Ssef the problem is that while Oda cut there in the manga, there is a panel after she removes the cigarette that is used to imply something else happens (happy sound effects basically "Yay! Yay!"). The anime does it slightly different but it is supposed to provide the same effect. Instead Allona is left thinking she wants Sanji to stop smoking.

Most of what I want to say has already been said but I'm still going to say a few thoughts. Simply put, I'm not a fan of the edits. I get why they were done and I appreciate the time spend doing it to help Allona, but I really wasn't a fan. In what is largely considered either the best or second best fight of the series, it's generally not a good idea to mess with the pacing for any reason (especially not on a first viewing) because it is there intentionally. Two of the 12 principles of Animation are anticipation and timing and important episodes, especially those with highly detailed fight sequences, are often carefully crafted with those principles in mind. Suspense and drama are also key aspects of storytelling that removing things like flashbacks and cliffhangers can impact. This felt like it was on fast forward and felt flat. The big moments impacted the most to me though were the Snakeman cliffhanger and the Sanji-Pudding alley ending. The feeling of suspense added from that cliffhanger was enough to make many people scream when it first happened. That's a big moment that a lot of people search for on Youtube. Something Allona will never have now since you can't be shocked by something you know is coming. A lot of One Piece manga chapters end on cliffhangers too for this reason. The Sanji-Pudding scene, regardless of the thing that happens later, is still a really good moment and the way it is done is extremely well crafted to make people view it a certain way. Missing the ending of that part now would have an impact on how people see the next part. It's just not something that should be done. Animation is not a frame by frame of manga panels for a reason. The things that aren't shown in a manga often get fleshed out in anime to make them more impactful.

I think the problem is, that a lot of people who watch reactions do so, because they wanna see other people react to the same things they have seen. That's at least why I like reactions. When I watch someone react to a trailer of a movie, I wanna see that person react to that same trailer, that I have just watched and not a different one. Now in this case, people watch Allona react to something, that "we" have not seen and so we dont have emotions to compare it with. If she would watch that just by her own, that would be a whole different story. So it's kinda difficult...because it's a reaction, there are different expectations involved.

Oh jesus...haven't watched this reaction yet, but reading the comments makes me anxious... I think there is a good reason why a lot of people don't suggest something like OnePace for a first time watcher. And making it more like the Manga destroys the purpose of being the Anime, which doesn't mean it's always worse 😕. During the last reaction I alrdy thought, that it was a nice idea, but maybe a bit overdone...some cuts felt really weird...and doing this during the probably most hyped and intense moment of the arc, was probably also not the best time to try it. But what's done is done...gotta live with it 😜.

I'll repeat this just in case: I tried to follow the manga's structure of scenes to make this as faithful as posible to Oda's writing, so that's why it's a little bit changed in certain aspects. Everything showcased here is just like in the manga with almost in the same structure and still keeping "SOME" filler. I just tried to make it easier for Allona imporving some of the pacing and by making it through one video. Is all good If It wasn't your cup of tea but trust that everthing on the edits is really thought out. I'm sorry If it deleted the filler flashback of Rayleigh and Luffy at the begginning in 870. You can always compare it to the panels of each chapter. It was not my intention to make nobody frustrated just the contrary. I'm sorry again. Allona will keep her orginal way of doing things. :)

I think most of the heat is happening because these were arguably some of the best episodes One Piece had in the last few years and they kinda got ruined for some people (including myself) expecting the original unedited content. That being said I think the message has been delivered. There is no point in say the same thing over and over again. These cuts really do take away from the tension and build up of what you can only get in a anime. Especially the scene where Luffy and Katakuri first squared up. The anime is meant to be enjoyed in it's entirety, flashbacks and all. Pretty sure the editor meant well but this was rough to watch knowing what was taken out.

This wasn’t the best idea to cut down these episodes.. if it was the next arc I would understand but this was straight up bad.. the anime adds a lot of content that the manga usually off screens

it also feels more like a movie, which kills all the unnecessary, repetitive and slow/dead parts of the episodes, which is a huge tradeoff for the cliffhangers. i enjoyed so much this reaction

Yup, this new format kinda ruined the reaction for me to be honest. There was so much suspense and hype missing from this. Like the Snake-man transformation cliffhanger. YES, even if she's gonna watch the next episode a minute later. It will get you pumped and excited to see it even more. That's how the anime should be viewed. Feels like she got robbed of that experience :(

I really didn't enjoy the new format ....it's ok to cut the flashback but this arc you don't have to cut it to be like exactly the manga because there is something in the anime explain something the manga did not show it like how Brulee escape :(

I’m really not a fan of the way the episodes were edited together. Yes it is edited in the way that resembles the manga panel by panel, but the anime adds scenes that expand upon the original manga and convey more emotion and buildup to the fight. An anime isn’t meant to be viewed in the same format as the manga. Also several scenes that I really wanted to see her react to were completely skipped over, some scenes that showed more of Katakuri’s mindset during the fight. This format would be better for someone who had already seen the episodes not someone reacting to series.

I haven't watched yet but you seem to have some confusion with the forms. So far, Luffy has 3 G4 forms: Boundman (brute strength, average speed), Tankman (strongest defense) and finally Snakeman (extremely fast, lower strength). Boundman was way too slow for Katakuri so he had to use speed to take him down

It's just that when you merge all these episodes into one, that just doesn't work, Since I had to pick from one of those two scenes: the ending scene of ep. 869 or the full on transormation in 870. I did it this way to make it as smooth as posible certainly. If you try to edit this you will see that it would end up weird If you included both repeated scenes. Trust me, I tried to do what you saying here but It just looked weird as a result since that scene was to create suspense for the end of an episode it wouldn't have worked as a smooth continuation for the next episode which is 870. I'm deeply sorry If that didn't please you. :( I tried to do my best with it, LOL.

I just thought that It would interrupt the fight and I wanted to keep the tension of said fight until the final blow. Since it was filler I decided to put it out. I hope you understand. I feel like Oda didn't showcase that part in the manga for a reason, so I wanted to respect that. LOL

The same thing happens on the Doflamingo fight aswell .An episode ending with the anouncement of a new Gear 4 and the new episode showcases it. We saw how she reacted to that :D Would have been nice if we could see this one too but oh well whats done is done.

If we’re being realistic Katakuri had Luffy beat however with that being said Katakuri’s admiration towards Luffy and nobility of keeping it a fair fight hence injuring himself plays a lot into it. I’m one that believes Katakuri was just 1. tired of fighting and felt that the fight would just keep on going and 2. gained a lot of respect towards Luffy and let him go :)

And all the Rayleigh and Luffy flashback is there. The video that I edited for her is almost as faithful as it gets to the Manga, trust me. You can compare it to manga chapters panel by panel yourself If you don't believe me.

When i edited the episodes into one video, there wasn't any need to showcase the last scene of 869 when you had the same scene in the beggining of ep. 870 but with better animation. It would have been weird to repeat the scene one after the other.

Luffy does indeed have multiple forms of Gear Four but we just don't know how many forms. Three forms we do know of are Bounce Man which in my opinion feels like strength based, the second that was shown was Tank Man which is defense based (But we don't know how it looks like normally since he used a "Stuffed Version" against Cracker), and the last form we know is Snake Man which is speed based.

The fight between Luffy and Katakuri had many factors in play and had most of the fandom divided over its results. It wasn't a death match in the true sense, despite both sides struggling quite a bit. Also,quite a bit of viewers are of the opinion that Katakuri was not truly defeated at the end, but rather chose to view Luffy as an equal and let him go.
