*Reactions on hold - Laptop Issues*
Added 2019-09-04 13:28:23 +0000 UTCHi you guys. I have been having troubles with my computer since I updated windows 10 recently. I have been trying my best, even with the help from my mods, to fix this problem. So it may be awhile before new reactions until I get it up and running again, or I may have to just buy a new one.😭 I really don't want to since Windows is the flipping problem and I just got this laptop in March. I'm so sorry you guys.

2019-09-05 02:19:04 +0000 UTCThat's why i always skip updates since 2006 or so. You never know when some new update will fuck everything up and you have to wait until they release a hotfix or a new update altogether. Dang i was so excited to see todays reaction :'(

2019-09-04 23:07:36 +0000 UTCThat's going to be my next stop, cause this is annoying me.

2019-09-04 20:41:40 +0000 UTCyeah I'm familiar with using the registry but heard some people run into issues if they have windows 10 home edition, otherwise I'd suggest pausing the updates for at least a week to monitor if its good to update or not in the future

2019-09-04 20:22:35 +0000 UTCno worries

2019-09-04 19:09:04 +0000 UTCWindows will update by itself after a while unless you manually disable updates in the Registry (or another option)
Florin
2019-09-04 19:02:07 +0000 UTClooks like I got lucky and haven't installed the update yet after windows screwed up a previous update that affected remote connection settings (got me paranoid as a mf). Out of curiosity, to anyone that went through the update, did you manually update windows or can optional updates happen automatically? Windows Update screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/B2qRLh2.png

2019-09-04 17:14:29 +0000 UTCI just spent close to a $1000 on this laptop I really dont want to cough up another if I don't have to. If nothing else works I'll just have to bite the bullet.

2019-09-04 17:07:23 +0000 UTCworst case get an usb, format your drive and then reinstall windows

2019-09-04 17:00:56 +0000 UTCyou can get a really good laptop w/ 0% interest financing for a year nowadays. Hopefully the issue gets fixed soon.

Florin
2019-09-04 14:25:32 +0000 UTCAlso, if it comes to a clean reinstall, try to use this https://pureinfotech.com/download-older-iso-windows-10/ when creating a bootable USB. The version before this shitty update is 1809

2019-09-04 14:24:20 +0000 UTCIf it comes to it, I hope your mods can help with that
Florin
2019-09-04 14:22:22 +0000 UTCNo i don't. 😩
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 14:18:08 +0000 UTCDo you have a bootable USB with Windows 10 on it? It'd be best if you have one with a slightly older Windows version on it. I got a new laptop for school and the latest Windows image from Microsoft is with the latest update :'(
Florin
2019-09-04 14:17:08 +0000 UTCKk. I'll do that if it doesn't come on. Im at 91% on the reset so fingers crossed I can get this sorted
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 14:11:28 +0000 UTCIf it doesn't turn on, just go with a clean reinstall. It's the quickest and probably best way if you have everything important backed up. Since you have an SSD, it won't even take long
Florin
2019-09-04 14:09:50 +0000 UTCi see. then i think you'll have to format C drive or the drive in which windows is installed while reinstalling a compatible version of windows
iloveass
2019-09-04 14:07:02 +0000 UTCKk. I'll keep this in mind if/when it comes on.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 14:06:26 +0000 UTCThe Go back to a previous version thing is available for a limited time only but it may still show up. It's Settings -> Update and Security -> Recovery and right under Reset this PC the "Go back to the previous version of Windows 10" should show up. Microsoft says that you generally have 10 days to go back
Florin
2019-09-04 14:05:35 +0000 UTCOnce it hopefully boots up I'll look into that. At third point I'm willing to try anything.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 14:05:03 +0000 UTCassuming this is a Windows 10 PC, try disabling Cortana, if you haven't already (even if you have, may be worth to double check). some recent update has made Cortana EXTREMELY inefficient, pushing people's PC at full load. https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3081050/windows-10-cortana-cpu-hog-issue EDIT: optionally, you can try to uninstall update KB4512941 that's causing the issue. hopefully you got a friend or family to help you.

2019-09-04 14:03:46 +0000 UTCIt's annoying my soul at this point.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 14:00:51 +0000 UTCNope I have never dropped it. It literally stopped working right after I updated it.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 14:00:29 +0000 UTCdid you ever drop your laptop ? cause the problem you're explaining is very similar to when caused by a faulty Hard drive.
iloveass
2019-09-04 13:59:51 +0000 UTCVersion of windows? I didn't try that at all.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 13:57:09 +0000 UTCyea that sucks. windows can be iffy sometimes.
B00ch
2019-09-04 13:56:31 +0000 UTCIt's already an SSD. I learned that from John last night too.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 13:56:10 +0000 UTCBut did you try to specifically Go back to a previous version? It's different from restoring and you don't need a restore point for it. It basically only uninstalls the latest update
Florin
2019-09-04 13:55:05 +0000 UTCif the re- installation of windows doesn't work.. i would recommend changing your hard disk.. as sometimes the blue screen problem could be caused by faulty HDD. switching from HDD to SSD is the best option rather than buying new laptop/pc
iloveass
2019-09-04 13:54:24 +0000 UTCSo several days ago I updated my computer. Once it restarted it all started going down hill my laptops fan was annoyingly loud but it was actually working at that time. Then out of the blue it crashed and went to the blue screen. After multiple times of that stupid blue screen it pulled up the option to troubleshoot and restore. The first couple of times I chose to restore from a point before the problems and it again would work for awhile but then crash again. So last night when it finally booted on my mods were helping me find out what was going on as best as they could. Found out it's the disk usage. I got tired and annoyed so I went to bed. Mind you I didn't turn off the laptop but when I woke it was off. And wouldn't come on again until awhile ago which now im resetting it again for the 2nd time.

2019-09-04 13:51:04 +0000 UTCBuild a PC?
Leazii
2019-09-04 13:46:31 +0000 UTCOkay, let's see if I understood it properly. The new update is buggy *insert Buggy picture* as shell and if you try to go back to a previous version you get the blue screen of death?
Florin
2019-09-04 13:44:11 +0000 UTCI just reached 16% on the reset! Finally! But honestly at this point nothing up there is worth keeping. My patience is wrecked at this point. I don't mind starting fresh.

Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 13:36:47 +0000 UTCTake the time you need, Allona. One of the recent Windows updates was reported to be very buggy and ate a lot of CPU/battery power. I don't know if you got the same update and if it's the reason for your issues :(
Mike Y
2019-09-04 13:35:56 +0000 UTCThat's not normal. Another fairly simply solution is to reinstall the windows. A clean reinstall would be best. I think something from the new update wasn't installed or downloaded properly
Florin
2019-09-04 13:35:17 +0000 UTCI'm pissed.
Allona Roberson
2019-09-04 13:35:03 +0000 UTCyes windows has allways times where they release faulty updates you should set it back to the last windows version which should be pretty easy through windows version recovery and then just skip this update and wait for the next before you install it again. that problem should be very easy to fix for you with help from someone who knows about this stuff
