but most of all they respect each other as rivals deep down, like in the movie about chopper kingdom of the strange animal island with the violin villain, where they mentioned each other in the 2nd person at the end of zoros fight he says: "theres a man in this world... who kicks with more power than ud ever b able to" at the end of sanjis fight he says: "compared to his sword... urs is just a piece of crap", i consider everything canon (except the 2 5 minute sports specials and most of the video games) especially since goda gives the ok for everything 1st :D makes it cooler and more fun imho ^^

You don't understand the trope well enough. They're rivals. They hate each other, compete with each other, but we know damn well they need each other for character development/progression. This trope has been used in anime over and over (Naruto/Sasuke, Deku/Bakugo, Goku/Vegeta, etc.)

Apparently this whole thing about Sanji's origin was hinted since at least back then during "JAYA/SKYPEA's" Arc. It's crazy how Oda's mind works, he had this more or less planned out like for at least 15 years ago for Sanji and until now he didn't think it was the right time to do it. His patience to showcase these characters in more depth is insane. This only demonstrates that he cares truly about said characters and the story, even after 20 years of writing and drawing "One Piece". He doesn't want to rush it in any form or fashion with his masterpiece. Or at least that's what I think... LOL.
