slippery creatures by kj charles; it's based in the1920s (and gives similar vibes that ur art does tehehhe like the old fashion suits, cozy and antique sets etc). there were times when i was reading that i went "mmm yes thats a simon moment" in reference to the mc. the romance is really done well and the mystery aspect is super fun and driving.

2022-09-11 19:08:22 +0000 UTCThe Adrian English series by Josh Lanyon is about a book seller who’s co-worker gets stabbed to dead and then he’s a accused of the murder (him and the cop investigating have lots of sexual tension, they don’t get together until later books tho mlm) Snow and Winter series by C.S Poe is about an antique dealer who finds a heart underneath his floor boards. The main character is already in a failing mlm relationship and there’s some sexual tension between him and the head detective of the case Secrets and Scrabble series by Josh Lanyon is about yet another book store owner but this one is set on a little island, murder insures and there’s once again tension between our MC and the police chief I have a lot of mlm book recommendations with mysteries if you’re interested 🥰

More noir adjacent (lit fic and inter-war espionage respectively) are The Chosen and The Beautiful by Nghi Vo and the Will Darling books by KJ Charles. (The Chosen and the Beautiful is an urban fantasy/magical realist retelling of the Great Gatsby)
