I had a big project in the works which stalled out near completion - the series about capitalism i talked about a while back became one big video (i can't write a series, apparently, lol) but then i got the ol' creative block and got too anxious to put it out
so it's on the shelf briefly, which i try to get back in video-releasing mode with some less stressful ones, like this prageru nonsense! enjoy~ comments very appreciated
to do: a couple audio fixes, some more visuals to be added, title, thumbnail, credits, video description with list of links and such

i even have an idea for a video that would probably be less than 10 minutes long, but i'd really have to bully myself to write that short. i'll see

2021-08-13 06:05:18 +0000 UTCI have so many feelings about the homelessness section. To start, I believe in the housing first model. It is a public good to ensure all people have homes. Sadly, my opinion is not the general opinion it seems. I work in related field in a California city and I get calls all the time about "making the homeless go away" as if pushing them into another town is going to make the problem any better. Worse, I hear landlords complain about the eviction moratorium but don't see the connection between their actions and homelessness.

Taking a cue from another commenter, I think instead briefly discussing David Clarke (and possibly Joe Arpaio, who was pardoned by Trump after being convicted for his illegal methods of upholding "law and order"), celebrated men by conservatives while actually holding up their societal belief systems over the actual spirit and letter of the law, is worth considering

However, I have p significant auditory processing issues, so if you were able to somehow add captions, I would really appreciate it! Just makes it easier to watch it all in one go instead of often having to skip back a few seconds to re-listen to smth I missed, if that makes sense. All good if you can’t manage that ofc! And the video is otherwise absolutely top notch, really well-argued, good research, etc. Thanks a bunch!

2021-08-04 09:42:43 +0000 UTCwhile i do sort of agree with you, i think the reason shaun (and others, occasionally) make these prageru responses is that they often offer an easy way to talk about concepts that extend beyond prageru. like the conservative conception of law talked about in this video can be seen outside prageru and applied to groups that aren't prageru. i think these videos could be added upon by showing some examples of those other groups, but focusing on just prageru allows for these videos to be fairly concise.

Like, everything you say is true, as far as I can see, but you are preaching to the choir here. Everyone left of republicans, certainly everyone who watches your videos, already knows that they are constantly contradicting themselves. What I took away from this video is: Prager U don't have actual convictions and standards. They are just opportunists who say and believe whatever is advantageous for them to believe. In short, they are compelled purely by self-interest. But I already believed that before you showed me more examples of it. Everyone, who is not yet convinced of this likely also won't be convinced by further videos. I fear that, by making videos like these, you could end up doing the same thing right-wing youtubers are doing. Build a community of likeminded people and endlessly repeat the same number of things until it becomes dogmatic. Like "Prager U bad, therefor we, who hate them, are good, hurray us good people, boo those dumb sheep. Now I don't want to equivocate your with their videos. I believe that you are far closer to the truth than they are. If to sides yell at each other that they are correct and the other one is false, the ones who are actually correct are justified in their action. I also don't necessarily want you to stop making videos such as this one. But you should be clear about why you make them. If you just happened to see the Prager U video and wanted to do a response, that's ok. But please don't over-focus on Prager U. I think sometimes, when someone is saying bullshit, the strongest response one can give is not dignifying their nonsense with a response.

Following/not following rules should not end in death. Cops can't be the judge/jury/executioner. The problem IS that it is believed that not following rules can justify killing
