Some of your points are valid, and I do think the pacing could’ve been a little better. However there are some points which seem kind of nitpicky or disingenuous. You’re right there are a thousand reasons why Thorfinn would not win in a fight against Thea. If you’re aware of the World of Darkness universe then you’d know a 6th generation vampire is stupidly powerful. One mistake that I may have made with this is that I tried to elude to the fact that she was able to use her telekinesis like a barrier and that’s how she was able to fight so effectively. This would’ve been revealed at a later date, but as you’ve brought it up as an actual criticism I suppose i should mention it. The gap between Thorfinn and her is quite large, but not impossible to reach. The subterfuge is because of the very nature of assassins, while she may be strong she is not omniscient, and she isn’t stupid enough not to realise there are threats to her. Vampires die all the time, vampires kill vampires, Vampire hunters wouldn’t exist if they could simply be killed. Not every assassin was captured I tried to once again elude to that by not specifically stating they were all captured. You speculating on what may happen next based on what’s happened so far is quite disingenuous. I can for certain tell you that none of what you’ve said is correct, with the exception of Thorfinn maybe gaining a companion or two by the end of Year 4. There will be no bullshit power up, there will be nothing that there hasn’t already been a build up to. I can fully understand not liking the ending as it does seem more like a midway point than an actual ending. But a lot of what you’re doing now is speculation based on what’s happened I see to be not entirely correct information. I still think it’s a bit unfair to compare dahlia and Thea. One is a witch with very limited physical abilities, the other is a vampire nearly 1,000 years old. Dahlia is as dangerous as her awareness permits her as if she is inhibited in anyway then she’ll be vulnerable. Geralt proved this by nearly killing her with proper planning. As an enemy she would be much easier to deal with as opposed to Thea who has enhanced speed, and strength as well as a few other abilities. I’ve also never really hidden the fact there are more generations of vampires, I’ve written about it in my AN. I’ve also reference the world of darkness in them a lot. So I assumed people would know about them at this point. The question you asked about where all these powerful beings are. It’s the Masquerade, which I know started a bit later but I’ve changed for certain purposes. Anyway that’s all from me, if you have anymore critics about it then message me we can talk about it there. I don’t really like discussing stuff in comment sections. Thanks for reading anyway 👍🏻

I suppose I can start with what I thought was good, the betrayal of Lambert. You did a good job of sprinkling hints beforehand that it wasn't that shocking which isn't bad as it felt natural and not out of left field. Same with how Thea was the 'big bad' you did well in hinting that she wasn't a simple handmaiden, though that was even less of a surprise, given you've been hinting towards that for chapters. I also like the additional side characters such as my lucky boi and Sophia they are great and love them too even the small snippets of 'extras' such as the woman our Thorfinn fought in the first round they go a long way in making this world not seem empty which is good.... However as I said at the start of this message this chapter was kind of disappointing and that really was obvious when I saw the Kong fight was still going way past the halfway mark of the chapter into the final quarter leaving no room for what I hoped was the finale to the arc which it clearly wasn't. Now to the part I think at least for me fell completely flat was his fight with thea and for this you could say it was clearly said that he would be no match for them and there can be a thousand valid worldbuilding reasons why he shouldn’t have won or even put up much of a fight but this was just lame and really a letdown. This is just a repeat of the Dahlia but done worse in my opinion given how he put up even less of a fight here then with Dahlia even with the massive amount of growth he is meant to have had since he faced Dahlia. Hell even a single hit on her would have kind of shown he has improved but this flows into the main problem with this and that the power scaling is whack. Your telling me this vampire who could stop Thorfinn’s swing at full force with just two fingers, a swing which we know can easily cut people in half that I am wondering why the fuck is she even bothering with this scheming and subterfuge when nothing we have really seen could stop her. The gap between her and Thorfinn is insurmountable that there is no tension or suspense and makes what’s going to happen next kind of clear. He and the other assassins are captured possibly including Sophia where Thea will gloat or what ever possibly hurting or killing Sophia as the connection between her and Thorfinn would be known now due to lambert possibly to get him to work for her or some shit. This likely horrifies Arwyn realising she been sleeping with the big evil bitch where she will either defect then and work to free Thorfinn or double down. Which leads to two paths I can guess either Thorfinn getting a bullshit power up possibly linked to the fate of Sophia as I doubt he will be able to train much in captivity and if he somehow breaks out earlier no amount of training in a year should be able to bridge the gap between them. Hence he either gets a bullshit power up and kills Thea or he runs away with Geralt maybe lucky boi and maybe Arwyn. Both of which are kind of lame to me as its either the same as before or worst. This isn’t even going into the whole if she is ‘only a sixth generation vampire’ and she is that strong that implies there are quite a few way stronger than her but that’s only counting the possible other vampires. Which begs the question where the hell are they if there are so many strong beings why aren’t they in control… I feel like that’s enough ranting for me today as I now just feel disappointed in this story when I been so looking forward to each chapter as it comes out despite the glacial pace the story goes at maybe I will check in next chapter maybe not given how slow they are maybe better to wait a year or something.
