Billing paused, health updates, Unity security vulnerability, and other news

Hello everyone. I (JudooTT, developer) apologize for the recent silence again. Here’s some news on what’s been going on.

1. Health updates

Last Friday, October 10, I was stepping out of my car when my back went out much in the same way it did in August last year, leaving me nearly completely bedridden for days and under a near nonstop stream of painkillers and medications to limit swelling. I’ve seen a doctor and have more visits scheduled with my spine specialist to address this next week. I am still waiting to even schedule with a podiatrist to go over my ongoing foot problems (plantar fasciitis or tarsal tunnel syndrome is my best uneducated guess). All of this has essentially put a near pause on my ability to work on Restoration.

1. Patreon Billing Paused

Because of this falling behind and the fact my next few weeks will likely be heavy with doctor visits, I’ve suspended billing on Patreon until November 17. This means any card on file will not be charged until November 17 or later, depending on your individual billing cycle. All existing members will retain their benefits, but new members will still be charged the up-front cost as usual.

I am suspending the Adventurer tier monthly poll for October. This is because writing takes up the majority of my development time. I will continue with the Early Bird artwork poll as usual.

I’m planning to continue work on Restoration in the upcoming weeks with whatever capacity I can. As of today, two of the three encounters that won last month are done, and both art pieces are completed. I’ve written up the early part of the Friends in Far Away Places quest as well, the next main storyline quest, but I very much doubt I can complete my writing, implementation, and testing on the usual monthly cycle.

1. Unity security vulnerability

Unity recently disclosed a security vulnerability present in almost every Unity engine game in the past few years. There is no evidence malicious actors have exploited this, but it is possible. See https://unity.com/security/sept-2025-01 for more information.

The latest version of The Restoration of Aphrodisia on Itch.io, V0.14.00, already has the update that fixes this exploit. However, most of the other games under Blue Fairy Media Games still need this patch:

4. Bimbocalypse: Rise of the Bimbies (DONE)

5. Escape from Mu Tau Phi

We recommend you do NOT download any of these games until we have delivered a version with the security patch. If you have already downloaded them, we recommend you DELETE all versions of them as soon as possible.

Save game files will not automatically be deleted with the game as they live in a different persistent directory, so you should be able to redownload the games later and continue where you left off. Still, it’d be safe to back them up. All of the save game files can be found in a directory similar to:

C:\Users\Name]\AppData\LocalLow\Blue Fairy Media LLC\[Game Name]\saves .

You may need to enable hidden directories to see your AppData folder.

Part of the goals for the next few weeks while billing is paused will be to bring all these games up to the fixed versions of their engines if possible. We will post news on each title that is successfully patched.

Again, the latest version of The Restoration of Aphrodisia, V0.14.00, on Itch.io is already patched. If you have any older versions, then delete them.
