What a brutal anime this is! Poor Subaru o(TヘTo) 😭 He can never catch a break! I think the brutality and intensity is just going to keep increasing as I continue watching. I couldn't stop watching one episode led to another hahaha and I can't wait to continue with the rest of the episodes! ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

2025-09-09 02:35:57 +0000 UTCThe director's cut adds/changes a little here & there and it's a bit more gory. And I do think for this show, that little bit of extra gore does matter. Anyhow, hope you enjoy this. This is among my favourite anime and I'd rank it as the best serious isekai myself (with Konosuba being the best funny one, but Uncle from Another World would probably beat it if it had more seasons. The comedy in both is great, but I'm a Sega fanboy at heart and the heart of Sega is strong in the Uncle show).

Why Subaru said that he's probably from a small island nation to the east is because usually in games or anime, the Japan-like countries are usually situated in the east, just like in the real world. The thing I like about this show is how you can see characters from multiple different angles in the same or similar situations. Compared to normal anime where a character chooses to do something in a situation, here you can ask "What if it went like this?" and you would probably find out. I find that super unique. Not to mention the implied mental stress and suffering Subaru goes through because of what his ability is. It is also worth mentioning that there is a lot of content that is cut in this show's first season and there are things like Re:Zero Break Time that are intended to be watched alongside the main series, after every episode, but mostly they aren't all that important but they are fun watches (they are only about 5 mins per episode). There are also a few movies/OVAs that are intended to be watched between a few episodes but they are totally fine to watch after season 1 as well, before you start season 2. Definitely watch Memory Snow and Frozen Bond.
