I thought diablo always had a body! so that's how Demons work, yes I remember in the OVA those other demons were trying to revive Violet and were preparing that princess's body for her. OMG! They really didn't show us how brutal Rimure was in the anime 😱 no wonder he gained the Merciless skill, I did think that his actions weren't merciless enough to me to be honest, but you are saying he actually made them suffer like that!😱 Thank you so much for sharing all this information with me 🥰🤗

Demons are a spiritual being as such they have no physical body, Diablo's physical body is created by the summoning and the bodies sacrificed to him, which is why he said that Rimuru gave it to him. The skills that were sacrificed actually just became a part of the other skill, for example Raphael has enhanced versions of all the powers of both Great Sage and Degenerate. Also in the LN and manga Rimuru actually aims for the soldiers limbs instead of just killing them so that they will suffer such horror from seeing the people around them being dismembered that they will lose the will to fight.

Now, during his evolution, it is EXTREMELY hard to tell, but Great sage starts talking to Words of the World to try and upgrade more skills before the harvest festival ends. However this should be impossible, because Great sage shouldn't be able to do things without direct orders from Rimuru himself. Anyway, this is where Great sage asked words of the world to evolve it into Raphael, Great sage -> Raphael, However it failed thousands of times, so Great sage "sacrificed" Rimuru's degenerate skill, the skill that allows him to synthesize(bring together) and Separate(bring apart), that skill is also what allowed him to combine those lesser spirits into one greater spirit to save all of the kids in the spirit labyrinth. I say "sacrificed" because instead of him no longer being able to use that skill, it is now a "sub-skill" of Raphael. It is also worth noting that Great sage is no longer a unique skill, its now an ULTIMATE skill as Raphael. Now Beelzebub(The evolved version of Gluttony) his now SECOND ultimate skill, for reference when someone awakens as a true demon lord they would be lucky to get ONE ultimate skill, some have awakened and gotten none (like Geld when he turned into a demon lord), if great sage hadn't stepped in mid evolution to request these things, Rimuru would be SO MUCH weaker. As you probably already know Beelzebub in Mythology is the Sin of Gluttony, considering gluttony was already a powerful skill for Rimuru, you can imagine what it can do now. Great sage "sacrificed" Merciless to evolve gluttony into Beelzebub but once again it just became a sort of sub-skill which is now called "soul consumption." Beelzebub is so powerful that it takes effect instantly ignoring space and time to eat its targets. Yes at the end there it was Raphael taking control over Rimuru to do the secret ritual of "spirit resurrection" in a sort of auto pilot mode. Once again this command wasn't directly issued by Rimuru but this is what made it possible to revive the souls. Mind you if Great sage hadn't upgraded gluttony into Beelzebub NONE of this would have worked and no one would come back to life. Basically Great sage/Raphael is doing gods work for Rimuru without him even knowing. Also you mentioned diablo's line "I wanna test this body my master gave to me" and you said he's always had this body. (The demon) In episode 24 of S1 where we saw a past adventure of Shizu was the first time we were introduced to "Black/Noir" in which after Shizu and Black first encountered each other we saw a flashback of Shizu talking to Demon lord Leon(the one who summoned her) in which he states "There are demons who are known as (progenitors) or (Primordials), they are rather unorthodox and can be extremely troublesome. In place of a names they are each referred to by their signature color: The Red progenitor is Rouge, The white progenitor is Blanc, and the Black progenitor is called Noir(There are more Primordials but they were not mentioned). Demons don't have physical forms, that's why we only see them when they are summoned, and Rimuru basically gave him 20thousands corpses, creating a more permanent body because otherwise the body would break down over time. The biggest part about all of this is the fact that a Primordial is a being that has basically lived since the beginning of time. While a Primordial isn't a evolution it shows how long they have lived, and with that comes a incomprehensible level of power. All i can say for now is that Black/Noir is NOT a Archdemon, even though the MAX evolution for a demon IS an Archdemon. So now you know why that guy passed out upon figuring out that Black was an Primordial.
