Monolith Crystal Necklace

Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement)

This necklace bears a polished crystal at its center. The crystal is from the Monolith, a stone of immeasurable power and size, and said to have been the first stone in the Plane of Earth from which all others originate. If you're attuned to multiple items with "Monolith Crystal" in their name, they only count as a single item for the purpose of the number of items you can attune to. Furthermore, while attuned to this item, you gain a cumulative +1 bonus to Constitution saving throws.

The item has 4 charges for the following properties. It regains all expended charges daily at dawn.

Change Color. While wearing the necklace, you can use a bonus action to expend 1 of its charges to magically change the crystal's color, clarity, and visible inclusions. You then gain resistance to the damage type associated with that color, as shown on the table below. When found, the crystal is a random color.

Crystal Blast. While wearing the necklace, you can use an action to expend 2 of its charges to emit a wave of crystals from the ground beneath you; the wave is either a 30-foot cone or a 15-foot-radius sphere centered on you (your choice). You can also choose to change the crystal's color (as if by its Change Color property) as part of using this action. The crystals then erupt outward from you in the cone or sphere, forcing any creature within the area (excluding you) to make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 6d8 piercing damage from the crystals, plus 2d8 damage of the crystal's associated type for each additional item you're attuned to with "Monolith Crystal" in its name. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage from the blast. The erupted crystals then disappear.

"This...this can't be right. To bear something of this significance as if it were a mere plaything, or accessory."
"Then don't."
The halfling stopped looking at the necklace and looked up at the towering orc. Her powerful jaw was set with pride and honesty. On her fist were more rings than fingers. Who knew how many were more than they appeared.
The orc continued, "Wear the piece with the knowledge that it's not some trinket. Wear it with respect. Wear it with pride in the fact that it can—and certainly will—save your life some day. That is a weapon disguised as a statement. Wield it in plain sight like a blade into battle."
With their next breath, the halfling's uncertainty was gone, and their eyes—their resolve—hardened like the stone they now wore with pride.
