Behirazooka

Weapon, rarity varies

This magic weapon is a launcher that weighs 10 pounds and resembles a hollow tube, which bristles with electric power and is designed in the likeness of a behir. The launcher is a ranged weapon that has the ammunition (range 40/120), loading, and two-handed properties. If you are proficient with crossbows or firearms, you are proficient with the behirazooka.

The launcher can be loaded with any ammunition or throwable equipment, such as a flask of alchemist's fire or a weapon that has the thrown property. If the launcher is loaded with typical ammunition (arrows, bullets, or crossbow bolts), its ranges are doubled, and it uses a d4 for its damage die; the damage type matches the nature of the ammunition (GM's discretion). Treat any target that's hit with a ranged attack from the launcher as if it were hit by the fired projectile, including any of its additional effects. Furthermore, on a hit, the target takes extra lightning damage based on the behirazooka's rarity: 1d6 (uncommon), 2d6 (rare), or 3d6 (very rare). If there's another target within 5 feet of the original one and behind it (relative to you), that target also takes lightning damage equal to half the amount rolled on the d6s.

'The roar of a behir—the might of a storm incarnate—in your hands! Fire away with impunity, hero: nothing can stand in your way with the proper amount of fire power.'
(Ammunition not included)

I read it as two effects myself, because obviously this is a magical bazooka, but yeah I can see how the wording is a little confusing.

While that would indeed be awesome. Behirs are a little big to fit in there and it would be quite the challenge to maintain "ammo" or do you mean if it could magically summon behir to launch at targets? Hmmm... tiny behirs. That is an interesting idea, but lots of questions. Now you got me thinking 👍

This would be much better if it actually fired a live behir at the target. Or even a dead behir doing significant bludgeoning damage.

I'm a bit confused as to what "within 5 feet of the target and behind it (relative to you)" means. It's that supposed to be two different additional descriptors (ie 5ft splash zone around the target, as well as another potential target from the "exhaust" port of the bazooka) or is that a single, confusing descriptor?
