TFND-Ep.1 (Dev Update)

Hello! Yesterday I released the Demo to The Feedee Next Door and since then I've gotten a lot of support and encouragement to keep working on it. Probably the most important of which are my new Patreon members! I was a little apprehensive about putting this up so early but I'm glad I did. Right now there are only a few of you but it shows me that this game could have a community if I just keep working on it. So I wanted to make this post to show my appreciation and to share with you the state of the game as it is.

(You can skip this paragraph if you just want to read the dev update) I started development on this game about 5 months ago. I discovered fetish games a couple of years ago and was always trying to look for one that had a focus on a longer story. I never really found one. So (since by now I already make games) I thought I'd give it a shot. I'd made it almost until the end of coding episode 2 when things in my life started to change and I started to have to take focus away from it. I also just thought no one would play it anyway and it wasn't worth my time. So the game sat there for about a month and a half until one day I started thinking about all the time and money I'd wasted on it and felt pretty stupid. So I opened it back up and realized the first few days were ready to be released already. And posted that demo. Much to my surprise, people seemed to like it! Now I'll start working on finishing the rest.

[Dev Update]

Episode 1 is mostly complete. It's scripted, coded, arted. It is however missing a few things:

1.) Save/Load- You might have noticed appon playing the demo that the "Load Game" button doesn't do anything and there isn't a save button. This is because that's a feature I never finished. Right now the "Load Game" button doesn't do anything but print the game data to the console. This data was meant to be used to set the game's parameters and load up the right scene on the right day with the right dialogue. However, as I worked on the game more and it shaped itself into less of a game and more of an on-rails visual novel I realized the function may not even make sense to add to the game. Since each update is its own episode, it would be much easier for development and testing to leave it out and release every episode as its own .exe. Kind of like how when you go to watch a series on Netflix you don't just open one long video file. You pick an episode. I'm still on the fence about doing it this way as I fear it may be confusing and annoying to the audience so let me know in the comments what you think about it.

2.) Script Rewrite- It's been brought up by 2 people that the dialogue and story points move a little fast and unnatural. And I do agree with them a little bit. I think in the later stages of development, I became worried people would get bored of reading too much dialogue and would want to get to the feeding which is what I assumed they'd come for. As a result, I tried to force too many plot setups too quickly. I'll go back and rewrite the story a bit to slow things down and maybe make things a bit more natural and of higher quality. So when episode 1 releases expect the dialogue from the demo to have changed.

3.) Play Testing- Something as simple as a character fading in can always go wrong. Some time is going to be needed to play-test the game and tweak it to make sure you get what I wanted you to get.

4.) Mac Version- Someone requested the game come out on mac as well. I'm sure they're not the only one who had to skip this game because they simply couldn't play it. I've never released on mac before but I don't want to restrict my audience so I'll work on that.

None of that should take long. What's the release date? Well, I don't know. Certainly, before the month is out though. Especially if I don't include the save game feature. Will episode 2 take 6 months to come out like the first one did? Definitely not. Much of the foundation has already been made for the rest to be built on, the writing part of those is already done, and more importantly, I'm no longer making this game because I want to see it I'm making it because other people do. And that makes me happy :)

Thank you for becoming a member. I look forward to showing you the full first episode and many more. Leave a comment and let me know any feedback you might have. I read comments on other platforms but of course, yours come first <3
