Alternate Thumbnails for Silent Hill Maria/Dr Frankenstein

I never played the original Silent Hill 2, but when making this video, I made it a point to play through the remake to really get into the mindset of Maria. Believe it or not, there's a fair amount of research that goes into my roleplay's based on established characters, and it was fun both reading the theories and essay's about the story as well as playing through it for the first time.

Maria is a fascinating character. At first glance she comes off as a flirt but what she represents is so much more than that for the protagonist, James. I'm not going to do deep lore dive's here, but it was crucial to me to accurately represent what Maria symbolizes.

Part of what makes Silent Hill such an interesting franchise is that a lot of the lore is left up to interpretation. Does Silent Hill really exist? Do the monsters? Does Maria? What about all the people James meets in town? Are they living, breathing beings? Or does this all take place in the mind of a deeply disturbed man? It's a large part of the fun! And with the Maria roleplay, I wanted to capture the sense of unease that you feel playing through the game. Is she James' best dream, or his worst nightmare? That's for you to decide!!

The first time I did Frankenstein, I leaned into the kookiness of the character! This time around, I had just done the Demon Lord video and I didn't want it to feel too samey, so I made it a more grounded interpretation and leaned into the maternal instincts of the Doctor towards her Monster.

As ya'll have probably noticed, lately I've been experimenting with telling story's in a couple of my series while changing up the POV. This started with The Enchantress video and continues here, and I've gone on to do similar vids in a couple other series of mine. I think it's a neat way of fleshing the worlds out and also not making them so reliant on a single character, in this case being Van Helsing!

By the way, at the time of me writing this it's officially New Year's Day!

It's bizarre that around this time last year I had.. maybe ten subscribers?? And I definitely didn't have members or Patrons!! I don't think I even qualified to have any at that point lol!
