The first thing I want to say is that if you haven't watched "It Was Agatha All along," please do! It's one of the best Marvel anything Disney has put out! Anyway, I was a big fan of Agatha Harkness as she appeared in Wandavision, and I based this video on how I thought the Agatha show would go in terms of plot. As it turns out, I was actually really close!
When Agatha was last seen in Wandavision, Wanda had put her under a spell which led Agatha to believe she was a regular neighbor in the town of Westview. When the video starts off, Agatha is still under that spell and is shown gossiping and being a menace in general to her neighbors.
To pull the curtain back a bit, I spend a lot of time in the editing process getting the color just right. Color grading is an art form in itself, and learning more about it through the making of these videos has given me a much bigger appreciation of the work that goes into creating really eye-catching scenes in TV and movies. In fact, if you were to look through my past videos, you can see me learning in real-time how to make a good looking video! Though it's a never-ending process, I like to think I've improved!
The reason I mention this is because I wanted to do something special with the color of the Agatha video, which was to start it off in black and white and then have it bloom into color halfway. I tried to create a nice contrast and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
For Captain America, I really wanted to hammer in Steve's fish out-of-water nature in the modern world, and have both him and the Nurse reflect on things that have both changed and stayed the same for him! To preface, Captain America is my all-time favorite Hero! For example, that shield that's on the thumbnail? I keep that on the wall of my bedroom along with a poster of Cap's first comic book appearance. For this video I just brought it down and used it as a prop lol.
Steve Rogers is an interesting character in that he's often stereotyped as a boy scout with a heart of a gold, but he's a lot more than that. The burden that comes with being pulled from the past and thrust into the future with flying robots, aliens, and literal gods isn't an easy one to overcome! But, for the most part, Steve did an excellent job of taking it in stride.
Or, as well as one can do. It can't be easy to live in a world where the woman you love is now 66 years older than you, married to someone else, and on their deathbed. Or where your friends and family are either dead, or a killing machine (no offense Bucky!) Many of the Avengers have tragic backgrounds, but Cap is up there as having one of the more heart-breaking pasts.
I've always thought one of fascinating things about Captain America is that, though he was originally made to be a symbol for the American spirit, what he represents is universal. To be resilient in the face of adversity is a concept we can all relate to, and he exemplifies it up there with the best!
