Due to popular request

I mainly use CSP 3D to make my own pose or refer to Posemaniacs presets, if i find constructing the pose on my own difficult. I recomend using Posemanics if you are a beginner artist, it is a useful tool.

I don't really make use of vector linearts, though i would recommend using it for clean lines. However I don't really go through the effort of doing it since it's pretty time consuming for me so i just make accurate lines, then i proceed to coloring.

General tips in how to art like ashenmash:

1. Remember to apply ambient occlusion if you aim for realism (use pure black then Lassotool + airbrush)

2. Pin light/Lighten layer can make your image pop

3. Use Add layer for desaturated highlight/ light. Use Glow Dodge or Add (Glow) for saturated highlights/light

4. I use Multiply layer for shadows. It changes changes the hue of the color, and also decreases brightness.

5. Use references, whether you're looking for poses, clothes, folds, backgrounds, or even just the general aesthetic of the canvas.

6. In making backgrounds, I mainly do photobashing instead of painting everything on my own. Photobashing is when you use other images or 3d models to compose your background, then paint over it to make your background objects/landscape blend with the overall aesthetic. This is much more time efficient and fun.

7. I use the lasso tool a lot. You kind of need to have a "lose hand" or "get used to it" to fully utilize the lasso tool. It makes the drawing process much more time efficient. Applying gradients using the airbrush (e.g. Ambient occlusion), making unusual shapes, or if you want to paint on something but don't want to affect a certain area in the canvas, you can use the lasso tool.
