The whole 'she's not going to choose you' thing, boils down to Buffy not wanting Dawn in the mix even though she is keeping the rest of the girls exactly Dawn's age and strength to fight. She immediately stopped training with Dawn when these new girls showed up. She constantly goes to Dawn for information but doesn't acknowledge that DAWN wants more from the fight. That's what was meant. Buffy constantly chose the potentials over Dawn and getting Dawn ready. Dawn had to get herself ready. She may have been a little bitter at Buffy about that which the hellmouth amplified but I think she handles it well for the most part and tries to overcompensate with helping with research. This girl just makes herself read other languages for more information. So far she's translated Ancient Sumerian and Old Turkish within days. Side note, one of my favorite little scenes ever is where Willow goes "Oh yeah, I think I read a translation of that." And Dawn goes "There's a translation?! Ok...it's fine...I'm over it..." LOL poor Dawn. I'm sure your translation was better, sweetie. I love how every descended into chaos without Buffy there to go 'shut up' and then when she comes back everyone is like 'we're ready to listen now, you staying?' like she just walked off and they didn't kick her out.
