I think something that most people don't consider is that when Xander lost Buffy, he realized he was still in love with her or at least had really strong feelings and it made him question what he was doing with Anya. He loves Anya, but I really think Buffy's death made him reconsider for a bit. Also I don't think we ever hear about what happened to Joyce's art gallery that she opened. Shouldn't that be bringing in money for Buffy too? Even if someone else is running it.
