oh god poor SMG hopefully it wasn't too traumatising filming that oh yeah i remember that from the beginning. that's really cool they already had the seeds for that planted so early on oh yeah when you look at cordy's dreams after ep 11 they make more sense, but at that point i was just thinking how traumatic everybody's fears are and cordy's was just like i'm part of the chess club now scary

Oh, there was a fun fact that I forgot to mention. Sarah Michelle Geller has a real fear of being buried alive. I can't imagine how hard that scene must have been for her. I went back and edited my first comment to answer some of your questions. Patreon doesn't tell you when a comment has been edited, so if you get the chance, the answers are there. Oh, there is two more things you might want to know. Yeah, there is an indication that Buffy is afraid of the Master turning her into a vamp. In her dream before the intro, the Master was about to bite her in his layer before she woke up. This suggests she's afraid that if she fights him, she'll not only be turned, but that she will lose. Also, I see Cordy's dream as being deeper than it first appears. She's afraid of being alone, astrosized, being ugly, an outcast, and no longer being popular. As you heard her say in Out Of Sight Out Of Mind (the episode after this one), the reason it's so important for her to be popular (even though she can still feel alone when she is) is because "It's better than being alone all by yourself."

I love this episode, and this was a great reection. I know, some elements were confusing, but I think with this one, because it's dreams, not everything has to make perfect sense. I also think that the dreams overlap and affect others, which is why Billy's nightmare coach attacked the girl. Although, come to think of it, with the way Billy said, "I wouldn't go down there if I were you," I think he was afraid the Ugly Man would attack her the way he did the boy (because she was going alone into a dark basement, something kids are commonly afraid of), so he did attack her. Billy's fears kept coming true. I think that if someone had come in when the clown attacked Xander, if someone else had come in even if he had left, the clown would have attacked them too. Does that help? In general, with shows like this I think it's important not to worry about all the details too much, but particularly with dreams, because dreams often don't make sense. As you said, Doctor Who's version of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. :D That said, analyzing things like this and trying to figure out how things work is sometimes fun. Billy's comment about playing second base. It's a baseball term. In baseball, there are three bases, and a team member stands near them, guarding them and trying to get people out. It's a little hard to understand if you don't know baseball, but it means he's the one who stands at the second of the three bases and gets people out when they run passed it. A little context to help clear up the Billy thing though. Billy was attacked in real life by a kiddie league coach for losing a game. Like one of those coaches who flips out at the kids and even gets violent with them if they lose. It happens for real, but this is a more extreme version of it. But because of his attack, he was put into a real life coma. While he was in a coma, he dreamed. His mind created a nightmare version of the coach, turning him into a monster. That's why his one arm was kind of like a deformed baseball bat. And because the Hellmouth is sending out mystical energy, as Buffry said, his dreams were turned real. The Master mentioned a psychic force, which implies that because Billy had some mental powers, his dreams were affecting everyone else. Oh, and watching your reaction on Youtube, I noticed you mentioned Charmed. That's one of the major shows that took a ton of it's influence from Buffy. Along with Vampire Diaries, and another supernatural show called Grimm. Oh, and your reaction to Buffy's nightmares and Buffy's dad was wonderful. I love how connected you are to these characters!
