My Morning with Caroline, Pt. 3

Sometime in the Fall of last year I began receiving messages on Instagram from Caroline, a sweet, 19 year old college student who was interested in posing for photos. I’m not sure how she had found me, but she seemed insistent on working with me. At the time I was pretty busy and traveling a fair amount, but come January I finally made the time and arranged a shoot with her. She was overjoyed.

We decided to meet up at my friend Izzy’s house, a small, mid-century home he had fixed up and always lets me use when I need an indoor location other than my tiny one-bedroom. Caroline was early, ready, and full of smiles, she couldn’t wait to begin. This was a refreshing change from my typical experience with a late model who hasn’t even done her hair yet.

Caroline was up for just about anything, apart from blatant nudity, so I had her put on a very huggy grey body suit and began shooting her in the back room of the house. She said she’d been modeling since she was a pre-teen, doing runway and commercial work, which seemed obvious both with her confidence in from on the camera and her sunny, smiley, commercial look.

From there I had her change into another body suit, having her wet down the white cloth so it would cling and be a bit more see-through, which again she had no issue with. Posing her in the all-white bathroom, with the natural light streaming through the window, she appeared simply angelic.

Being our first shoot together, I began asking her many questions about life and family and college, and very quickly she began telling me all her secrets. When it came to sex, I asked her if she’d ever been with another girl, and she said yes. 

“Like, just kissing and stuff, or actual…wetness?” I asked out of dismissive curiosity.

“Oh, no, definitely wetness!” she said with a big laugh and her patented grin.

From there we migrated to the bedroom, and finally to the hallway connecting the living room to the kitchen. She looked adorable in any setting, but I knew I was tired and not really flexing my creativity much that day. It wasn’t her fault, she was great, but everything I shot felt like a sexy version of a senior portrait, which is what I fear most of my work leans towards, sadly.

Feeling as though we had captured everything we could at the house, I locked up the back door, placed the key back in the hidden spot, and asked Caroline if she was still up for doing more, which thankfully she was. I told her to follow me back to my house, had her park her car and hop into my little pick-up truck, then we headed out to my special, secluded road in Sisquoc, Ca., to begin again.

Unsure of what to wear next, we finally settled on her wearing a pink wrap dress I had purchased online. I knew it would look great on her, though it never really photographs well, overall. She looked amazing, with her beaming smile shining through. For as beautiful and attractive as she was, my favorite images of her from that day were all her silly faces and smiles. There’s something incredibly charming about a confident, beautiful woman who isn’t afraid to show off her dorky side, at least in my opinion.

After one last change, she finally was open to showing a bit more skin, and soon she was covering herself only with her hair again, all oiled up and basking in the sun. “These are my John Lennon shades,” she hissed, proud of herself, I assume, for knowing who that was, even though they were in fact not the kind of glasses he wore.

By noon, I was tired and called it a day. I hadn’t received much sleep the night before, and though Caroline was great, I knew I had hit my limit. We talked and laughed all the way back into town, and I felt like I had made another connection with a truly special lady. Our schedules haven’t quite matched up since we shot this in January, apart from a shoot I did with her and her friend, which I will be sharing soon.
