"This is our target, Michael?" Alexandro asked, eyeing the property critically.
Michael nodded, a hint of excitement in his voice. "Yeah, the owner's loaded. What do you think? Fancy, right? We're bound to score something good here."
Alexandro shrugged. "I guess... Though it doesn't hold a candle to even one of my father's smaller properties."
Michael shot Alexandro an exasperated look. "Of course it doesn't compare to Don Lupo's places. Your dad's in a league of his own. He could probably buy a small country if he wanted."
"Now you're exaggerating," Alexandro scoffed.
"Not really," Michael insisted. "My dad says your father's businesses are worth billions. And honestly, Alex... I'm a bit jealous."
"Why?" Alexandro asked, genuinely puzzled.
Michael chuckled, a touch of bitterness in his tone. "Why? You'll inherit an empire someday. You could live without ever lifting a finger, never leaving your fancy mansion."
Alexandro frowned, shaking his head. "I don't know about that." Eager to change the subject, he pressed, "Anyway, what's the plan here, Mike?"
Michael stroked his chin thoughtfully, then pointed to a section of the wall partially obscured by an old oak tree. "See that? The branches hang over just enough. We can climb up, drop onto the property, and slip in through that second-floor window. Rich folks always forget to lock those."
Alexandro nodded along as Michael explained the plan. When it came time to execute, he watched in amazement as Michael skillfully climbed the oak tree, swung from a branch, and latched onto the windowsill with impressive agility.
"Yow, Mike! You look cool!" Alexandro exclaimed, his eyes wide with admiration.
Michael, dangling from the window, quickly gestured for silence. "Shh! You might alert the owners!"
Alexandro clapped a hand over his mouth, nodding in understanding.
Michael gave a quick nod of approval, then whispered, "Your turn! Be careful, alright?"
Alexandro took a deep breath, steeling his nerves. Michael's hushed voice guided him:
"Start with the lowest branch. Use the knots in the trunk for footholds. That's it, nice and easy."
Alexandro's hands trembled slightly as he gripped the rough bark, pulling himself up.
"Now, edge out onto that thick branch. Don't look down, just focus on my voice."
Step by step, Alexandro made his way up the tree, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Okay, last part. Swing your legs, build up momentum. When I say 'now', let go and reach for the windowsill."
Alexandro swallowed hard, his palms sweaty as he prepared for the leap.
"Ready? Now!"
With a surge of adrenaline, Alexandro launched himself towards the window. For a heart-stopping moment, he was airborne. Then his hands grasped the cool stone of the windowsill, Michael helping to pull him up.
As they crouched on the narrow ledge, Alexandro couldn't help but grin. The thrill was unlike anything he'd experienced before. But as Michael began working on the window lock, a flicker of doubt crossed Alexandro's mind. What would his father think if he could see him now?
Alexandro pushed his doubts aside, focusing intently on Michael's deft hands as they worked the window lock. With practiced precision, Michael inserted a thin piece of metal into the mechanism, jiggling it gently until a soft click signaled success.
The window swung open silently, and they slipped inside, their feet touching the plush carpet of what appeared to be a guest room. The opulence of the space was immediately apparent, even in the dim light filtering through the curtains.
As they moved, a floorboard creaked ominously. Michael froze, then whispered urgently, "Be careful. Quiet. If the owners catch us, we're in deep trouble. Some of these rich folks keep guns."
"For real?" Alexandro's eyes widened, his voice barely audible.
Michael nodded grimly. "Yeah. Once, I nearly got shot by a butler. Scariest moment of my life."
Shock registered on Alexandro's face. "Did you tell your parents?"
"Are you kidding?" Michael scoffed quietly. "They'd skin me alive if they knew."
Shaking off the memory, Michael gestured around the room. "Enough stories. Let's get to work. Find anything valuable, but be quick and quiet."
Alexandro nodded, his heart racing as he began to search. He ran his fingers along ornate picture frames, opened drawers filled with expensive-looking trinkets. The thrill of the forbidden act coursed through him.
As they rummaged through the room, Alexandro couldn't help but compare the items to those in his own home. Everything here seemed less valuable, less impressive than what he was used to. Yet the act of taking them, the risk involved, gave these objects a strange allure.
Michael's voice cut through his thoughts. "Hey, check this out," he whispered, holding up a gleaming watch. "This could fetch a pretty penny."
Alexandro nodded, but as he reached for a small statuette, a sudden noise from the hallway made them both freeze. Footsteps were approaching.
Michael urgently gestured for Alexandro to be silent, motioning him to follow. They quickly slid under the bed, their hearts pounding as footsteps approached.
The door opened, and a pair of feet entered the room. A damp towel dropped to the floor, and Alexandro felt his face grow hot. He and Michael exchanged wide-eyed glances as they realized the situation they were in.
A soft, melodious humming filled the air. "Fly me to the moon~" The voice was hauntingly familiar.
Alexandro's brow furrowed as he whispered, "Is it just me, or does she sound like Lea from school?"
Michael remained suspiciously quiet. Alexandro's eyes narrowed, "Don't tell me..."
With a resigned sigh, Michael confessed, "Sorry I didn't tell you, Alex. But we're in Lea's parents' house."
"You're crazy," Alexandro hissed, nudging Michael hard.
"Lecture me later, Alex. Now's not the time," Michael replied, his voice tinged with helplessness.
Their whispered argument was interrupted by a shout from downstairs. "Lea! What's taking you so long? Come down here immediately!" An older woman's voice rang out.
"I'm coming, mom!" Lea called back. They heard her quickly finishing up and rushing out of the room, leaving the damp towel behind.
As the door closed, Alexandro and Michael exhaled in relief, crawling out from under the bed.
Alexandro turned to Michael, his expression a mix of disbelief and anger. "Of all the houses in Bel Air, you picked Lea's? What were you thinking?"
Michael sighed, his voice a mix of defensiveness and frustration. "What? This is one of the most luxurious houses in Bel Air, so of course I chose it. I don't care if it's Lea's place or not."
Alexandro shook his head, exasperated. "You're something else, you know that?"
"Look, if you want out, just say so," Michael retorted, a hint of challenge in his voice.
Alexandro paused, weighing his options. "I'm already here. Might as well see it through."
Michael's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You don't mind stealing from Lea's house?"
"I'm just here for the thrill you keep bragging about," Alexandro explained. "I'll return and repay everything to Lea later."
Michael chuckled softly, "Right, I forgot you're just here for the experience."
They continued their careful exploration of the house, moving as quietly as possible. However, their luck ran out when Lea's father noticed something amiss.
"Wait, I heard something upstairs," he said, his voice carrying clearly to where the boys were hiding.
They froze, hearing the conversation below.
"Lea, did you finally bring your first boyfriend home?" her father asked, suspicion clear in his tone.
"What? Is that true, Lea?" her mother chimed in.
"No! Of course not!" Lea's voice was indignant. "I would never sneak a boy into the house!"
"Then why did I hear someone up there?" her father pressed.
"I don't know," Lea replied, genuine confusion in her voice. "Maybe it's just a cat or something?"
Alexandro and Michael exchanged panicked looks. Their adventure had suddenly become far more dangerous than they'd anticipated.
"Wait here, I'll go check it," Lea's father announced. The sound of his approaching footsteps sent Alexandro and Michael into a panic.
"Fast, Michael!" Alexandro hissed urgently.
"I'm doing my best!" Michael replied, his fingers fumbling with the window latch.
With a final push, the window swung open. They scrambled out just as Lea's father burst into the room. The window slammed shut behind them, narrowly missing Alexandro's heel.
"Who's there?" Lea's father shouted, rushing to the window.
He caught a glimpse of two figures sprinting across the lawn. "Damn it!" he cursed, slamming his palm against the windowsill.
Lea and her mother hurried into the room. "Who was it, Dad?" Lea asked, her voice tinged with worry.
Her father's face was grim. "Two brats just broke into our house. They might have stolen something."
Lea gasped, her hand flying to her mouth in shock.
"I'll report this to the police immediately," Lea's mother said, already reaching for her phone.
Lea joined her father at the window, her eyes scanning the now-empty yard. A mix of emotions played across her face - fear, confusion, and a hint of curiosity about who would dare to break into their home.
Meanwhile, Alexandro and Michael didn't stop running until they were several blocks away, their lungs burning and hearts pounding. As they finally slowed down, leaning against a tree to catch their breath, the reality of what they'd just done began to sink in.
"That... that was too close," Alexandro panted.
Michael nodded, unable to speak as he gulped in air. He turned to Alexandro, still catching his breath. "So, what do you think of your first thrilling heist?"
Alexandro panted slightly before responding, "Well, it was definitely... something. I felt the thrill, alright." His tone carried a hint of regret.
Michael patted his back reassuringly. "That's normal, man. First time's always intense."
Alexandro straightened up, his face set with determination. "Now, we need to find a way to return everything we stole."
"Are you kidding?" Michael's eyes widened in disbelief. "Maybe you want to return what you took, but I'm keeping my haul."
"Come on, Michael," Alexandro pleaded. "I can make it up to you somehow."
Michael sighed, a knowing look crossing his face. "You want to return it because it's Lea's family's stuff, right?"
Alexandro just shrugged, neither confirming nor denying Michael's assumption.
