K-Producer C48 Unexpected demand
Added 2024-08-15 06:53:45 +0000 UTCWhen the final notes of “Look Up” had faded out, the crowd erupted into genuine applause and cheers. The air was electric with enthusiasm; a far cry from the polite interest that had hovered over the venue at the beginning of the evening.
Many exchanged looks of pleasant surprise with their friends and fellow concertgoers. For thousands of first-time Ascend attendees in the audience, this performance had exceeded everything they could have imagined.
“Wow, I did not see that coming,” a young woman shouted to her friend over the noise. “I thought they were going to be a one-hit wonder with ‘Love Sentence,’ but this?”
Her friend nodded furiously. “I know! I only came because of that viral clip — but they’ve got so much more than that.”
Just a few yards away, a group of friends who’d been on-the-fence about attending were now discussing animatedly.
“Did you see those dance moves?” one demanded, eyes wide. “It’s like they took everything awesome from old-school performances and made it cool again.”
Even some of the quieter members found themselves caught up in it all; after looking out-of-place next to younger fans earlier, a middle-aged man nodded along appreciatively.
“I came here thinking I’d be bored,” he admitted to his seatmate as though sharing a secret. “But damn, I have to say, these kids know how to put on a show.
As everyone cheered louder, there was an unmistakeable sense of anticipation building throughout the crowd – if this is what Ascend can do for two openers back-to-back then what will happen during —the rest—?
While Ascend was moving backstage, still hearing the cheers in their ears, they couldn’t help but notice something different in the air. Yeon-seok and Hyun-woo were back to normal— no, better than normal. They were actually smiling.
It didn’t escape the rest of them, who were all high on adrenaline from their performance. Min-jae playfully elbowed Yeon-seok’s side.
“Look who’s Mr. Popular now,” he teased teasingly. “I think I heard some fans screaming your name out there.”
Hyun-woo laughed, a little bashful color dusting his cheeks. “It did feel different this time, huh?”
Jae-sung slung an arm around each of their shoulders. “You guys killed it tonight. It’s about damn time everyone else noticed.”
Byul-ho watched from a few feet away with a knowing smile on his face as he approached the group. “So,” he began easily with a too-light tone and too-perceptive eyes for them to take him seriously, “are you two less sulky now that the fans are noticing you more?”
Yeon-seok and Hyun-woo shared a quick look of surprise and embarrassment.
“What? No, that’s not…” Yeon-seok started too quickly to be entirely believable in his denial.
Hyun-woo jumped on top of his friend’s words in defense. “Yeah we were just… tired earlier is all.”
The failed attempts at disinterest only made the rest of them laugh harder— warm and fond rather than mocking.
Byul-ho shook his head still smiling at them. “You can admit it, you know,” he said gently with what felt like years of understanding behind him. “We all want to be appreciated for working hard.”
The both of them broke finally then, small chuckles sneaking past their gates.
“Okay, maybe it did feel pretty good,” Hyun-woo confessed sheepishly.
Yeon-seok nodded along. “I guess we didn’t realize how much we wanted that until we got it.”
There was a moment of shared understanding among them all, the brotherhood of the group shining through hard.
“Alright, enough teasing,” Byul-ho said softly clapping his hands together once. “We still have a show to finish so let’s keep this up for the rest of the night, yeah?”
They all nodded back at him, faces determined and excited as they prepared for their next set. It was still early in the night— they had all the time in the world to give everything they had to the waiting crowd.

Time passed and two hours slipped by in the blink of an eye. Seul-gi let the music wash over her, banishing thoughts of potential scolding from her parents to the back of her mind. It was worth it for every second.
Finally, the group took their positions for the last song, "Resurrection." The air changed in the room. It was charged.
Do-hyun stepped forward, his voice slicing through the quiet:
"I am dying inside, my passion gone
I need a torch to light me back just like in the past
Just like a resurrection!"
His movements were sharp and aggressive; he mimed shoving away invisible obstacles with each gesture as if they were physical objects.
Sung-ho joined in with smooth yet powerful rap flow:
"They said I was finished, counted me out
But they don't know the fire that's about to break out
This ain't just a comeback, it's a revolution
Breathing new life into my evolution"
A circle formed around him while he rapped; each member did a ripple effect outward signifying how far-reaching his words were.
The chorus hit and everyone sang together:
"Resurrection, rising from the grave
Resurrection, no longer a slave
To the doubts that held me down
I'm breaking free, reclaiming my crown"
They had intense synchronized choreography. They started low on the ground and rose higher with more powerful movements until they ended with a crown gesture that had the crowd going wild.
Hae-won and Jae-sung took center stage for the bridge:
Hae-won: "From the darkness, I see the light"
Jae-sung: "My spirit's stronger, ready to fight"
Both: "Every setback just fuels my fire
Watch me soar ever higher"
They harmonized beautifully together. They mirrored each other’s dance moves depicting struggle versus triumph through fluid but precise motions.
The energy on stage was electric as the song climbed to its peak. The members executed a series of intricate spins and jumps with each beat growing in intensity.
The last powerful chorus echoed through the venue:
"Resurrection, this is my rebirth
Resurrection, proving my worth
No more hiding, no more fear
My time is now, the future's here"
They ended with a big pose; arms stretched to sky, chests heaving but faces grinning with adrenaline.
When the last note faded away, the room erupted into thunderous applause.
Seul-gi found herself on her feet cheering along with everyone else in the crowd, any concern about being home too late forgotten in light of such an amazing show.

The day after the concert, members of Ascend were relaxing, recuperating from a grueling schedule. They had no idea about the storm brewing on K-pop online community.
A popular K-pop blogger known for his brutal honesty and industry insider knowledge had just dropped a review of Ascend’s latest concert:
“Hidden Gems: An Ascend Concert Review
Rating: ★★★★☆
I went to what I thought was going to be just another rookie group concert last night. Instead, I watched history being made. Ascend, who have been flying under everyone’s radar this year, put on a show that could rival any of the biggest names in K-pop right now.
Their title track ‘Love Sentence’ lives up to its hype from that viral clip but it’s actually their other songs such as ‘Look Up’ and ‘Resurrection’ that highlight their potential. The group gives off this vintage vibe mixed with modern K-pop sound which is both refreshing and unique.
But what impressed me most was their unity as a team despite individual talents clearly shining through. Keep an eye out for these kids–they might just take over the country.”
Within two hours of the post being published, twenty thousand eyes in the K-pop community had already seen it. Comment sections across various platforms were flooded with people discussing and asking about Ascend; they were curious, intrigued by this sudden rise to fame.
Byul-ho was at home settling down after a long productive meeting with SM Entertainment about upcoming releases for Ascend.
As he was drifting off to sleep there came his phone buzzing again and again almost non-stop until he finally picked up groggily on the umpteenth ring.
“Yes?” He yawned into the receiver without checking who it was first.
“Byul-ho-ssi,” Su Gaeul said breathlessly into his ear on the other side, “I’m sorry for calling so late but you need to hear this. We just got a bunch of calls from different companies who want to do endorsements with Ascend.”
Byul-ho instantly sat up, his sleepiness evaporating into thin air as shock coursed through his veins. “What? How many are we talking about here, Gaeul-ssi?”
“I’ve gotten at least five so far,” she replied quickly, “and my phone won’t stop ringing. Something’s happening Byul-ho-ssi… All of a sudden, everyone wants Ascend.”
Byul-ho’s brain went into overdrive trying to catch up with reality–he was expecting growth but not like this.
“Alright,” he said calmly despite the chaos inside him, “Send me a full report on each offer you get. We have to move fast but cautiously.”
He hung up and stared at his screen for another moment, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement rushing over him all at once. Things were moving faster than he had anticipated; now the only question was if they were prepared for what came next.
