So in the past few days I was at my parents to help with the labor of our beloved dog. It was stressful to say the least.
The signs appeared around 4pm, at 1 am she was already in preparation craze - extremely loud and fast breathing, preparing of the ”nest” for labor. To say the least we all got about 1 hour of sleep that night. At 5 am it started and at 6 am the first puppy was born.
it was estimated to have about 9-10 puppies. We got 10 puppies out by 1 pm. But we were not finished yet. The other two puppies were born in the next 5 hours. Which was mortifying. We were not sure if the last on is going to make it out alive because it took about 4 additional hours for the puppy to be born.
ALL TURNED OUT WELL!
Because the new mommy was exhausted we wanted to help her as much as possible so we separated the litter in halves and I stayed up until 2 am to keep switching the litters and to make sure Simba is alright. Then my mum who has slept for almost 6 hours at this point came to switch with me and I went for 4 hour long sleep (never had such blissful sleep).
I wanted for my mom and dad to sleep as they were very stressed and my dad went to work in the morning. He did not want me to wake up my mom and I did not want to wake him up so I decided to keep an eye on everything while they sleep.
