Tutorial: Downloading Environments and Animations with Meddle
Added 2025-09-19 16:34:43 +0000 UTCHello! Today I'm sharing a quick tutorial on how I use Meddle to download things for my videos.
You can download the tool here. There's a guide in the page on how to install it - you will need to use the Dalamud launcher.
There must be a lot of other functions of this tool that I didn't even get to test it yet, but in the video you will see how I basically use it everytime I need it.
As for the animation exports, I don't use it that often and I only really found out how to use it more or less recently! First time I used an animation from the game was In Storm's Wake. I've been using it more for the video I'm working on, so I got to show some of the examples of what I'm doing. Things like walking and running animations can save me a lot of time.
I didn't figure out a way to attach the animated rig to Mekrig controllers to make editing it more intuitive, but I also try to show how you can edit it directly.

It saves some time to put the characters together, but one thing I don't really like for characters too much is how the shaders are set up. So I also export every clothing piece texture files from Textools and manually adjust them to my liking :)
