It does slow the metabolism of cells, so the germs "starve to death". A virus is only some genetic information that takes over your cells, so nothing to starve. (Copper also has similar effects, just that copper is a lot more effective and does even do damage to SARS-COV-2, where silver does nothing) Also please keep in mind that both are metals which should not be ingested if you can help it. In larger quantities they are ingested even (heavily) poisonous. Second. What the Frick is a ultrasonic dehumidifier? I know of ultrasonic humidifier, but to reduce humidity you would either use an ac or chemical binders/silica
