TLDR: while the anime is decent for anime onlies, it's a slap in the face to people that read the source material. If you read the source material, you'd know just how much stuff they've cut from the series to make it to the jeju island arc. That was just an example. There's been like 60 moments cut. For example, Sung Jinwoo vs Baran was significantly harmed by the adaptation's cuts. It was a long drawn out where Sung Jinwoo uses his entire army and gets exhausted. The anime kind of cut the entire first two phases if the fight where Jinwoo is using his shadows to learn Baran's abilities. There's also a scene that got cut where Sung Jinwoo switches to one of his poison daggers after ripping off Baran's arms and that dives him the opening to land an uppercut with Ruler's Hand to push Baran's own lightning into his head. In the anime that final exchange was kind of just Jinwoo rips his arms off, baran misses a point blank lightning blast and jinwoo gets a lucky punch. Also in the source material he switches skill runes and manages potions throughout the Baran fight to maintain himself. Jinwoo vs Baran was by far my favorite fight in the source material and it just hurts that they completely eviscerated it of all its content just to get to the fan favorite bugboy.

I think that was implied after eating the healer that he gains knowledge but as it was happening with the queen it was slightly confusing. Not THAT crazy of a change in my opinion

Because this adaptation is terrible and never explains anything that happens in the material it's adapting, The Ant King was eating the queen's brain to learn what happened. He explains this via inner monologue before gaining the ability to speak after devouring the healer. As a manhwa reader, this adaptation is disappointment after disappointment. I'm probably not even gonna bother watching season 3. This adaptation is just a clipshow of the hype moments from the source material without any of the context or connective tissue that makes them make sense.
