i think they said in this episode that the star eyes are just from confidence or something along those lines, im not going back to find it so i can quote it but yeah i think the sharingan isnt actually there

Also, I heard the star eyes are actually just a visual effect for the readers/viewers, and they're not really there. I think Akane might end up figuring some shit out, and help Aqua find his father. Those two would make a god-tier detective duo.

It's similar to how you have to have a window/app selected on your computer to do shit with it. Funimation had the same thing, I think. It is annoying, but that's what it is. Not really random. Funimation was a worse website, imo. Once you get the hang of it, HiDive is easier to manage and better than Funimation (which still isn't saying a lot).
