Announcing Avenging Angel: Aftermath

Hi everyone. In spite of things continuing to be insanely busy, I am hoping to have 0.6 to the Beta testers in about a week.  Avenging Angel is finished, all bar testing and a few little tweaks, and everything else is now at the wrapping up stage. Oh, and I have my decent computer back and all fixed. ^^ That was also causing delays.

Today, I want to talk about something new - the first Missy mini-update, which will come between 0.6 and 0.7. The update will consist mainly of dialogue and continuity tweaks, plus some new school break time events. As I'm sure you can appreciate, Avenging Angel is going to have a big effect on the school, with the power balance between the bad and popular girls badly upset regardless of which way things go.

How much new content will there be?  Well, there'll be no new quests, as those are what take up the bulk of time in an update... (Avenging Angel is effing enormous, and once you add in the other stuff, there's going to be nearly as many images as there was in the whole of the 0.1 initial release, which, to remind you, had 4 quests, the entire, (admittedly early version of the) school day, Emily's scenes and the whole city with its various events.)

...however, there will be the fourth Prefects scene, which was supposed to be in 0.6 but has had to be bumped due to time constraints. That'll be joined by some new lunch and break time events in which we'll see the consequences of the decisions we've made in the Bad Girl/Popular Girl war, and how they're affecting the school. If Poppy emerged victorious, we'll see emboldened bad girls beginning to flex their muscles, if Angel staved her off, we'll see the popular girls consolidating their iron grip on the school and its cohort, and punishing those that betrayed them. Either way, it's unlikely to be good for the average schoolgirl.

The purpose of doing it this way is to allow 0.6 to be released now, without having to wait for me to go through all of the schoolday events and figure out how its outcome can affect them - if it works, I'll probably employ this technique again after the end of Chapter 6, as the Reign of Jess, which concludes Act One, will also make permanent and far-reaching changes to the school.

We're on the home stretch now, I'll do the traditional deep-dive post once the game is with the testers, and in the meantime, I'll leave you with a last, exciting preview...
