Alone time

Hi everyone. Conscious that even with things the way they are, I should really try and keep you updated once a week, I have a few more little tidbits to show you as I put the finishing touches to 0.6.  Almost all of the renders are now done, though some need some post-processing.

My computer has had to go in for repairs (yes, that one I bought back in October, but at least this means it's still under warranty!) so beta testers may get a small number of temporary images depending on how long it takes for me to get it back. but I planned well and did almost all of the rendering before sending it off, as I can post-process and code just fine on this more modest machine.

The Sound of Silence

I can also show you some more of what's coming in 0.6 - today I am delighted to reveal the horrifying truth about one of the most extreme punishments that can be meted out at Saint Alancia's - Isolation! If you'd prefer not to know and to find out when you play, now is the time to stop reading.

Most of the punishments at Saint Alancia's are based on making a spectacle of the offender in some way, such as displaying her naked or partially dressed, spanking her, etc. However, for a small number of infractions, these punishments are either ineffective or even counter-productive.  For instance, punishing a girl who, for whatever reason got herself into trouble on purpose, whether to make a point or just to show off, requires a more subtle approach so as not to give her what she wants. For such times, there's isolation.

Girls sent to the isolation room are usually taken there by a prefect, as these sorts of incidents usually happen during class, so the teacher needs to quickly restore order. As you can see from the above preview, girls taken to isolation are usually marched there in the nude.

Once inside, the true horror show starts. Here, the unlucky pupils find themselves placed in chains and suspended from the ceiling, completely unable to move. Each girl has her own separate cubicle, but even if any others in there with her were visible, it wouldn't matter. Once she's stripped and suspended, the last element of the punishment happens - she is blindfolded and gagged.

Left like this for a length of time determined by her teacher, the only breaks to the monotony are food and bathroom breaks (if the correction is long enough to warrant them.) She otherwise hangs there, unable to move, speak or see, and completely at the mercy of any teacher or prefect that enters.

The philosophy behind this is that when public punishment is not an option, the next best thing is a thoroughly degrading and horrible private punishment. Whereas the girl may have hoped to gain notoriety, she instead spends hours at a time unable to move, see or speak in a maddeningly quiet room, the only breaks in the monotony being food and bathroom breaks. Those who experience this form of correction usually take great trouble never to do so again.

In each release, I try to keep things fresh by adding new characters, locations and ideas, and with isolation now added to the list of terrible things that can be done to our heroine and her classmates, Sapphory and its high schools just keep getting worse!
