Card Sharks

Hello everyone! Work on writing the new quest proceeds smoothly, and I think I've now got the structure of the story entirely in place and am just working out a few details.  There's quite a lot to factor in when you're writing a story of intrigue, betrayal and shifting loyalties.

So over the weekend, I took a little time off doing that to indulge in the altogether simpler and more fun task of making some sexy renders for the strip poker game, which as you know, I'd hoped would make it into 0.5, but had to be cut due to time constraints.

It turns out that this was serendipitous, because in the meantime, I've developed a much more streamlined process for optimising images which is much faster and produces basically the same result.  See that lovely picture up at the top there?  That shows at the start of every round, providing you with a visual representation of how many clothes each girl has left on. That is to say the picture will change to reflect what the characters are wearing.  

Here's another shot of a different game state.  (Poor Mary is already naked.)  It also shows the correct clothes and underwear for Missy regardless of what she has on.
Let's take a quick behind-the-scenes look at how it works.

The picture is achieved by creating a composite image of several other images.  This is common among RPGM devs, as it cuts down greatly on loading times and file space, and means you can spend less time downloading updates or staring at loading screens and more on playing them!  Despite the fact that this picture has 29 possible parts, which can show each of the 4 girls in any state of undress, including all of Missy's clothing and underwear options, the total file size is... Less than 2.5 mb.  (If you're not technically minded, this means all 29 put together are about 1/4 the size of one of my 4k images.)

This is important for preventing file size bloat generally, but especially in the strip poker minigame, where there are so many possibilities, that this one scene may end up with more image files than Avenging Angel itself!  You see, in Sapphorian strip poker, naked players aren't eliminated, they have to play on, and if they lose again, they have to do a forfeit.  If two players lose, they do one together.  That is a lot of possible combinations.  Only once one player is the last one wearing any clothes does the game end!

I'm enjoying making this minigame, and who knows, maybe it'll be possible to add more in future in a similar way. Spin the bottle? Truth or Dare? Strip Twister? Which games would you like to see our beautiful girls playing?
