The school council has voted and the headline quest of the next update will be the second chapter of Poppy's story. I will first introduce the quest, then below, I'll discuss the poll results.
Poppy is ready to strike, and the time is now. Her war on the popular girls begins. Missy will once again find herself in the middle of events far above her pay grade, as the fourth year bad and popular girls battle for control of Alancias. But Malia is ready, and this time, Poppy will find herself on defensive. I resisted the urge to name the quest "The Popular Girls Strike Back..."

I wish I had an Angel
In this story, you will meet Poppy's opposite number, Fifth Year popular girl Angelica "Angel" Bron. Known (and rightly feared) as the popular girls' "fixer," Angel will be in charge of leading the counter-attack on Poppy and her friends. Once again, Missy must choose a side - Poppy's promise last time that neutrality would not be an option was deadly serious!
Unlike the first part, this will be one quest, which everyone will play, regardless of whether you are on the subby or dominant route. It will play out slightly diffently depending on which of these paths you have chosen, however, as you could have done anything from humiliating Poppy in the park to helping her humiliate Malia and her friends, and you may or may not be under her thumb as the quest starts. Likewise, there will be multiple possible outcomes to this quest.
Speaking of which, you may be wondering if you're locked into a route yet. Nope! You resisted Poppy before but now want to be on her team? Fine! You bowed to her before, but now you want out? There is a way...
I've been a bad, bad girl...
One thing that I suspect probably put this quest over the top as the council's choice this time around was that I have confirmed that one of the most oft-requested features will be in this update: You can join the bad girls! Yeah, if you've been playing the game hoping for the day Missy will put on those red ribbons as her face falls into a cruel smirk, then this one is for you.
How does this affect The Reign of Jess?
It doesn't. As Jessica explained to you at the end of Chapter 4, the fifth chapter will follow on directly from the end of the fourth, meaning that until the fifth is implemented, everything that you do will actually have happened before Chapter 4, so you're not actually Jess's slave yet at this point in the story.
Join the battle for the soul of Alancias, and fight alongside either Angel or Poppy in Avenging Angel - coming in Missy 0.6!
Poll Discussion

It would be a gross understatement to say that I am surprised by this result. I expected Chapter 5 to walk this poll. I almost didn't bother to run it as I had assumed that everyone would want to immediately play a chapter in which Missy will spend the entire time as Jessica's sex slave, but once again, the council's preferences have caught me off guard. (Which is quite exciting.) This marks the first time that the Jessica option has ever been defeated in the whole of the game's development. And at this of all times! I am, frankly, stunned. Actually, we Brits have an even better word for it: gobsmacked, (meaning a level of shock and surprise equal to being punched in the mouth.)
It's fine, of course, I wouldn't have offered the option if it didn't fit with my development strategy, and this is a quest I've been looking forward to implementing. And the range of choices expressed here shows an interesting diversity of opinion among the current school council. Those were respectable results for the home slave and Emily side quests there, given the heavyweight options they were up against. To have held their own against both Jess and Poppy options is impressive.
I actually thought we might be headed to our first ever runoff for a while there, as there have been 0-1 votes in it one way or the other all week. It was an extremely tight race with a last minute surge for Poppy's quest on a turnout of 88%. The abstainers could have swung it either way, or even put one of the side quests into the running. Who ever said your vote changes nothing? ^^
Other than checking in with her through odd little events and scenes, the last time we got involved with Poppy's story was all the way back in 0.2, which was released in mid 2021, so perhaps that was a factor here too? Either way, our course for the next 2-3 months is set: It's time to continue Poppy's story. And I'll be doing so, right after the supporter release of A Christmas Karen next week!
